00:00The government of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. is still pushing to fix the traffic jam in the country

00:08where government agencies are already planning the total rehabilitation in EDSA

00:13that is not affecting motorists and commuters.

00:17This is Gabriel Yegas of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.

00:22Complete overhaul.

00:24That is what EDSA will do as part of the Build Better More program of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:31According to the Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon,

00:34EDSA has been in operation for almost 50 years.

00:39Because of the hard work over the last decades,

00:44our countrymen can feel the results of EDSA.

00:52It's bumpy, uneven, and there are many holes in other places.

01:00And it's not a very comfortable ride.

01:02The plans are included in the study to reduce the traffic jam for motorists and commuters

01:08while the rehabilitation is being done.

01:10The EDSA bus carousel will remain open

01:12that serves almost 200,000 passengers.

01:16The various local government units are included in the plan.

01:19The Department of Public Works and Highways laid out the possible things they will do in EDSA

01:24that will be targeted under the term of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

01:27We will remove all the concrete.

01:30We will look at the base.

01:32We will reconcrete it.

01:34We will fix the base.

01:35And then we will asphalt it.

01:37MMDA Chairman Romando Artes assured that all options will be studied

01:43including the possible implementation of the Add-Even Scheme.

01:46He also arranged for living lanes as an alternative route for motorists and commuters.

01:52This is a major artery.

01:54We will close the lanes.

01:55EDSA's capacity will be reduced.

01:58So we are planning alternate routes and all.

02:02The President is just prioritizing the convenience of our motorists.

02:11Next week, the planned plan will be released

02:14to prepare the public for the rehabilitation of EDSA.

02:17More than 400,000 motorists pass through EDSA

02:20that is 32 kilometers long.
