In Argentina, President Javier Mele announced that the government will receive at least
00:04
20 billion U.S. dollars from the International Monetary Fund.
00:07
Economy Minister Luis Caputo said that the loan will be provided through a new agreement
00:11
with the IMF to be signed in the next few weeks. Caputo also assured that with the agreement,
00:16
it is expected that the Argentine central bank's gross reserves will increase to
00:20
approximately 50 billion dollars. Media reports indicate that the minister did not specify how
00:25
much of these funds will be destined to cancel the first installments of the programme closed
00:30
in 2022, and how much will be destined to cancel non-transferable central bank bills
00:35
held by the Treasury.
