Clothes With No Gender... From Kolkata

These surreal and eye-catching designs by Kolkata's Ayushman Mitra look to champion the gender-neutral clothing space. Would you wear these clothes?

00:41The perspective of it looking pretty and colourful, I mean that's what I think.

00:57It was also about how it, you know, struck to people and it started conversation.

01:05And people would ask, oh, is this a man's face or is this a woman's face?

01:11Are they both women?

01:12Are they both men?

01:13And that is where the entire idea of androgyny, the entire idea of putting things together

01:19where most of these pieces or these faces or characters are actually genderless.

01:38A shawl, you know, that we all wear was always very gender neutral to me while I was growing

01:45up.

01:46A shawl and a dhoti are just different, you know, different variations of wearing fabric.

01:52It is just about how one can and be and clothes should not be boxed in into brackets like

02:04we generally do.

02:05Every new piece that we create and make has a statement about today's time and age.

02:11So in terms of evolution of design, I am extremely fond of it.

02:36And, you know, these are two witches, as you put it, you know, they have black magic going

02:43on and one of the witches, you know, is annoyed with the other witch and she casts a spell

02:51and turns her head into a flower pot.

02:54And the monkey is so amused by this entire magic, you know, he has his mouth open and

03:00it's gasping while you see a lot of content and happiness in the face of the other witch

03:08who thinks that, you know, she's done something miraculous to get a reaction out of monkey.
