00:00A new and innovative technology in the production of abaca wine was discovered by the University of Southern Mindanao.

00:07Christian Matuliano is in the center of the news.

00:12In the ongoing research of the University of Southern Mindanao,

00:15a new and innovative technology was discovered to process fruits from abaca to make abaca wine.

00:25Under the leadership of Professor Harem Roca,

00:27along with his students,

00:29they discovered the process of making wine from plants that are commonly used because of their branches.

00:55But this wine is not abaca, it was like big live wine, somewhere in the bottle.

01:00And then he was very kind enough to share his expertise and then I went to his lab for wine

01:08and asked for some tips. How could I make my own wine?

01:12Roca added that abaca wine is not only an innovation in the field of technology,

01:17but also a step towards helping abaca growers to earn more.

01:22This innovation is an important alternative to the traditional agricultural products of the region

01:28and a step towards the spread of sustainable farming.
