To wear or not to wear a mask ...   Here's how the country has dealt with masking since the start of the pandemic.

03:07These face masks are the most important, powerful public health tool we have.

03:10I might even go so far as to say that this face mask

03:14is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine.

03:24They do not protect you from a dangerous virus.

03:27They don't do anything because, as the science says,

03:32they do not do anything even though she said it in the beginning.

03:35And it changes the rest of the administration.

03:39No more masks, no more masks, they don't do anything.

03:43A lot of folks are hearing now about double masking, wearing two masks or trying to get

03:50one of those N95 medical grade masks. Do you believe that that's?

03:54You know, it likely does, because I mean, this is a physical covering

03:59to prevent droplets and virus to get in.

04:03So if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on,

04:07it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.

04:11And that's the reason why you see people either double masking or doing a version of an N95.

04:24The new strains emerging create immense challenges.

04:28And masking is still the easiest thing to do to save lives.

04:33But we need everyone to mask up.

04:35I know it's a pain in the neck, but it's a patriotic responsibility.

04:43Do you think Americans will still be wearing masks, for example, in 2022?

04:50You know, I think it is possible that that's the case.

04:54Starting today, if you're fully vaccinated and you're outdoors,

05:00you need and not in a big crowd, you no longer need to wear a mask.

05:06Tonight, masks are coming back.

05:08The Los Angeles Department of Public Health recommending

05:10residents wear a mask in public indoor spaces, even the fully vaccinated.

05:16I hate these things. Absolutely. It was terrible having to put this back on.

05:23And we do it because the top doctor for all of us asked us to.

05:29And I just find it absolutely immature and appalling to somehow diminish it

05:37to try to score cheap political points.

05:39Stop. Just stop with this craziness.

05:48If you're sick, stay inside.

06:08I'm asking you to implement a temporary mask mandate,

06:12at least until every student has had the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

06:18Did you think about my eight-year-old daughter when you made masks mandated last year

06:22and she cried the whole way home?

06:25Her love for school extinguished because of the lack of connection that she needed.

06:29The Delta variant will spread in our schools like wildfire.

06:33Children and family members will die if you do not put mitigation strategies in place.
