These youth activists have a message for world leaders

" Start facing the reality of the climate crisis or step down. "  They are leading the climate youth movement in their countries. And they’ve all got a message for world leaders.   Brut nature met these young activists at the C40 Cities summit.

00:00You are killing our mother with your waste.

00:03Our earth is dying.

00:05Take climate action now to protect the future.

00:08We are the future and we demand climate action now.

00:12Every major issue that you are dealing with as a leader,

00:16poverty, migration, inequality, and all other big issues,

00:21will be exacerbated by climate change.

00:23Climate change needs to be addressed in parallel with all other major issues.

00:27It's not about picking trash, Mr. President.

00:30It's about climate.

00:32And climate is much, much bigger.

00:34And don't deny it.

00:36Don't pretend like it's worthless.

00:38Stop it.

00:40Stop this mess.

00:41Use your power.

00:42Use your brain.

00:45Use the scientific facts.

00:46Use the power of all these people that want to help you to achieve the goal.

00:51If you are in the position you are in today, it's not for nothing.

00:54We gave you our trust and we thought you were capable of regulating

01:00as many societies as possible as you are managing today.

01:04Do everything in your power to put an end to this very, very bad dogma.

01:09I hope that you begin to take this problem seriously.

01:13I certainly know that young people all over the world,

01:16that we take it very seriously.

01:18So if you want to listen to us, which you really should be doing,

01:22then start acting now.

01:23Start making policies that will make the world greener.

01:27We don't want all your little, your rhetoric and your words and everything.

01:31We want you to actually do stuff.

01:33I want to tell all political leaders to listen to their people and their needs.

01:38Not all of us face climate change in the same way,

01:41but together we can raise our voices and take real actions

01:44that are not just words.

01:46They need to take into account the actions of young people.

01:49We need to be at the negotiating table.

01:51And decide together the future of our generation.

01:54One of the actions would be to stop financing oil companies

02:01and invest more in renewable energy.

02:03I want to see you take actions to reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions

02:07and have a just transition to renewable energy.

02:10But I also want to see you hold polluters accountable

02:13because I believe those who are causing our planet to warm up

02:15need to be held accountable for the violation of our rights.

02:18Start facing the reality of the climate crisis or step down.

02:24Because being a climate leader is now part of your job description.

02:28The only way to measure your success is to be able to go home

02:31and to look into your child's eyes if you have one.

02:34And if you can't look into their eyes and say,

02:37I've literally done absolutely everything possible to save your future,

02:41there's not a single stone I've left unturned,

02:43there's not a single sacrifice I haven't made.

02:46If you can't say that, then you aren't doing enough.

02:49You need to be able to set aside your comfort,

02:52you need to be able to set aside your popularity,

02:54to set aside your money to do what's right.

02:56And if you can't do that, then maybe being a public servant

02:59and being a leader is not the right job for you.

03:02Money doesn't buy life.

03:04Money doesn't buy water.

03:06Money doesn't buy food.

03:08Money doesn't buy our future.

03:10We don't want your pity.

03:12And we don't want your praise.

03:14We want you to act.

03:16We want you to...

03:18We want to see ambitious and radical climate action.

03:22And we want to see it now.
