U.S President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have expressed their satisfaction with their phone call during which they discussed the prospects for a ceasefire with Russia.

00:08with U.S. President Donald Trump,

00:10a complete 180 from last month's very public bust up.

00:17And it's a glowing review mirrored by the White House.

00:20Today, President Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky

00:24had a fantastic phone conversation.

00:26They spent roughly an hour on the phone,

00:29around half the time Trump gave Russian President Putin on Tuesday.

00:33With both agreeing, the conversation was a positive step towards peace

00:37that could begin with an end to strikes on energy infrastructure.

00:41It's something Putin has said he'd agree to too,

00:44short of accepting a full 30-day ceasefire proposed by the U.S.

00:49But the energy ceasefire alone could be an exciting prospect for Trump.

00:53Zelensky confirmed he discussed the possibility

00:56of the U.S. taking a stake in Europe's largest power plant,

01:00currently under Russian control.

01:17And while Zelensky has said he thinks lasting peace can be achieved

01:21with the help of the U.S.,

01:22and he's eager to expand any ceasefire to include civilian infrastructure too,

01:27he's also warning that Ukraine is ready to retaliate if Moscow violates any deal,

01:33saying the issue of Ukraine's occupied territories is still a sticking point.

01:53Having since restored intelligence sharing after relations soured weeks ago,

01:58U.S. and Ukrainian representatives are set to meet in Saudi Arabia in a matter of days,

02:04aiming to bring both sides closer to a full ceasefire.
