00:00Aesop's Fables is a Group 2 winning 2-year-old who raced until his 4-year-old career, placing

00:07in Group 1 sprints. His trainer Aidan O'Brien described him as a big, strong, powerful horse

00:13with a great mind. He has taken up stud duties at Starfield Stud, and the son of Nonae Never

00:18has already had his first few mares confirmed in foal. Micheal Orlandi tells us how the

00:23fable started.

00:26This is very much an industry full of dreamers, and standing on a stallion is one of the biggest

00:31dreams you can dream of. We're standing Aesop's for the first season. As you all know, he

00:35was a top-class racehorse. He was multiple Group 1 placed, Group 2 winning 2-year-olds,

00:40turned onto an enlisted race. He's by a world-renowned stallion in Nonae Never. He comes from a very

00:45good pedigree. His mother was a steaks place, bred 200 steaks animals. His half-brother

00:50is Washington DC, but I suppose the big draw is that he's such a wonderful individual.

00:55He's a fantastic outlook, lovely noble head to him, brilliant limbs. He walks for sport,

01:01huge hip to him, great shoulders to him. I suppose that was a big selling point when

01:05we went to see him. We're delighted to stand him, and we just hope that he can breed offsprings

01:09like himself. Great temperament with his performance, but also his outlook, because he's to die

01:14for really. He's probably the best individual we've stood here at Compass Stallions.

01:19He started off when his maiden over 5 furlongs. He progressed to win a Group 2 over 7. There

01:25was probably a trainer that thought that he might have been a miler at Guineas-Hearst,

01:27but it transpired as his 3-year-old campaign. He was placed both in the Prix de l'Alpe in France

01:32and the Breeders' Cup in America, probably the two fastest 5 furlong races in the world.

01:38It was evident that he needed a very fast pace, and 5 at the highest speed was his ideal trip.

01:43He trained on to win again as a 4-year-old, but he competed then both in France in Longchamp

01:49and over in the Breeders' Cup. It just shows you that he could travel. He was an international

01:54Group 1 sprinter, really. There's a couple of people involved. I suppose Billy Jackson-Stobbs

01:58is one of them. He's a very active agent, as we all know, plus a consultant. Then we have Tom

02:04Blaine of Barton Stud, and there's a few other people involved as well. The Africans say it

02:09takes a village to raise a child. I suppose the longer I've been standing in stallions,

02:13the more I understand the industry a bit more. I still don't know much, but it definitely helps

02:17to bring people in that can bring more to the stallion, whether it's breeders, their own mares,

02:24and carry on going from mares, foals, yearlings, so on and so forth. You really can't have enough

02:30of people behind the stallion. Both Ryan Moore and Iain O'Brien tinkered the world of him,

02:35or talked the world of him, when he was in training at Ballydoil. When we were down

02:38seeing him that time with myself, Tom and Billy, Iain spoke very highly of him,

02:42which was great for the confidence. We're delighted to have so many people involved

02:46in him. We sold a number of breeding rights to breeders across the UK and Ireland.
