A good morning to all of us. This is the latest weather update for Thursday, March 20, 2025.
00:08
At present, the cold winds are still blowing in a large part of Luzon.
00:13
And the shear line, where cold and hot winds are blowing,
00:17
the effect is still continuing, especially here in the eastern sections of Visayas.
00:22
If we can see here in our latest satellite animation,
00:25
we can see a thick cloud that is affecting a part of Visayas and a part of Mimaropa,
00:33
as well as the Bicol Region area.
00:35
That thick cloud is the result of the effect of the shear line,
00:38
so especially in the areas of eastern Visayas, as well as some parts of the Bicol Region,
00:43
we expect a heavy downpour of rain today.
00:47
Meanwhile, for the rest of Visayas, the weather will also be rainy,
00:50
as well as in the provinces.
00:53
Meanwhile, here in the eastern sections of Luzon,
00:56
we will also experience a rainy season following the continuous effect of the cold winds.
01:01
And here in Metro Manila, as well as the rest of the Luzon area,
01:05
we still expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.
01:09
If there is rain, it will only be a temporary downpour of rain.
01:13
And it is also possible for isolated thunderstorms for the rest of the country.
01:17
Meanwhile, if we can see here in our latest satellite animation,
01:21
we expect that in the coming days, the effect of the shear lines will continue.
01:26
There is a part of Visayas, as well as the Bicol Region,
01:29
so be careful to our countrymen because it is possible for floods or landslides
01:34
because these rains are possible to last until the upcoming weekend.
01:40
There will be a time today here in Luzon, as we mentioned earlier,
01:44
because of the continuous rainfall in the Luzon area.
01:47
Mostly in the eastern sections of Luzon, we will experience a cloudy sky with rain.
01:53
So areas like Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, most parts of the Bicol Region,
01:59
and also here in Sorsogon and Masbate where the shear line is affected,
02:03
we expect a cloudy sky with rain.
02:07
Meanwhile, for Metro Manila, as well as for the rest of Luzon,
02:11
we expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.
02:13
If there are rains, it will only get worse.
02:19
Temperature forecast for neighboring cities here in Luzon,
02:22
for Lawag, it will be 23 to 31 degrees Celsius,
02:26
and maximum temperatures for Tuguegarao, Tagaytay, as well as Legazpi City,
02:31
will reach 29 degrees Celsius.
02:34
Here in Baguio, our temperature forecast is 15 to 24 degrees Celsius,
02:38
and for Metro Manila, maximum temperatures will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
02:45
It will be rainy season for the rest of the country,
02:48
because of the continuous effect of the shear line,
02:50
we expect the entire Visayas to experience a rainy season,
02:55
as well as here in the northeastern portion of Mindanao, in the Caraga Region.
02:59
Meanwhile, for Palawan and the rest of Mindanao,
03:02
we expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.
03:05
If there are rains, it will be isolated thunderstorms.
03:09
Just a reminder, here in the western sections of Mindanao,
03:12
in Zamboanga area, as well as Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi,
03:16
there is a high possibility of thunderstorms this morning,
03:21
and when it comes to noon, in the southern portion of Palawan,
03:25
there is also a high possibility of thunderstorms.
03:30
Temperature forecast for neighboring cities,
03:32
for Calayaan Islands and Puerto Princesa,
03:35
will reach 33 degrees Celsius maximum temperatures.
03:38
For Visayas, temperatures here in Iloilo will range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
03:45
At 30 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures for Cebu and Tacloban.
03:49
For Mindanao area, in Zamboanga, as well as Metro Davao,
03:53
maximum temperatures will reach 33 degrees Celsius,
03:56
and for Cagayan de Oro, it will range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
04:01
Due to the effect of the shear line, according to our latest weather advisory,
04:05
we expect heavy rainfall, especially in the eastern Visayas
04:10
and southern portion of the Bicol region.
04:14
So, it is possible to experience moderate to intense rainfalls
04:18
in the next 24 hours.
04:20
Here, in the eastern summer,
04:22
the accumulated rainfall in the next 24 hours
04:25
is possible to reach 100 to 200 millimeters.
04:29
Here, in the eastern summer,
04:31
and the area shaded by yellow,
04:34
particularly in Sorsogon, Masbate, northern summer,
04:39
in summer, Biliran, Leyte, and southern Leyte,
04:41
it is also possible to experience 50 to 100 millimeters total rainfall
04:46
in the next 24 hours.
04:48
So, these areas shaded by yellow and orange,
04:50
it is possible to experience flooding or landslides
04:54
due to the heavy rainfall brought by the shear line.
04:57
So, double caution to our countrymen.
04:59
And we will continue to monitor the heavy rainfall warnings
05:02
issued by our regional services division.
05:06
For Bicol region and northern summer,
05:08
we will monitor the heavy rainfall warnings issued by Southern Luzon PRSD,
05:13
and for Visayas, we will monitor the heavy rainfall warnings issued by Visayas PRSD.
05:20
Tomorrow, according to our latest weather advisory,
05:23
as of 5 p.m., heavy rainfall may continue.
05:28
Heavy to intense rainfall in northern summer
05:32
and areas shaded by yellow
05:34
are still possible to experience moderate to heavy rainfall
05:38
in Sorsogon, in summer, eastern summer, Biliran, and Leyte.
05:43
So, double caution to our countrymen.
05:47
Meanwhile, according to the heat index,
05:49
yesterday, 35 to 36 degrees Celsius heat indices were recorded in Metro Manila
05:55
and the highest in the country was experienced in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
06:00

06:32
In the condition of our ocean,

the gale warnings are still high in the coastal areas of Ilocos Norte
