00:00Five-time grade one winning champion Midnight Bizu took her connections on the ride of a

00:06lifetime throughout her racing career. This year a new chapter of her story began when she had her

00:11first full. We tagged along with Jeff Bloom on a visit to Hillandale to see Midnight Bizu and her

00:17Curlin Colt. So Midnight Bizu went to the Fasig-Tipton Night of the Stars which is where she

00:23sold and the bidding as you can imagine was pretty hot and active and I was sitting next to

00:31partner Chuck Allen and he got involved in the bidding and it was one of those I think

00:36emotional in the moment kind of decisions and Chuck ended up being the winning bidder

00:42when the hammer dropped for five million dollars. She resides at Hillandale at Alapa which is

00:49paradise for those of us who are fans of the sport it's like you know it's coming to Disneyland.

00:57We're very excited Midnight Bizu fold a Curlin Colt in the mid part of February and it's what

01:05you would expect to see out of a champion by a champion very exciting colt got a lot of personality

01:12I think takes after his mom quite a bit but certainly there's components of Curlin there

01:17as well so we're very excited. We thought long and hard about what would be the right way to go

01:23for Bizu's first mating and at the end of the day couldn't think of a better match than to

01:30send her to Curlin who of course has a remarkable not only race record but his success as a stallion

01:37speaks for itself. The colt will be offered for sale at a future auction it's early in the process

01:44but he's got the look of a champion you know he's got a presence about him and that's one of

01:48the things that I've always said about Midnight Bizu that intangible factor she's got that

01:53presence and you can't train that you can't teach it they either have it or they don't

01:57and I can I can say that I certainly see that quality in the colt. We followed up Bizu's

02:05first foal with a mating to Tapit who is you know arguably one of the most successful stallions

02:12commercial stallions out there in terms of his success with grade one winners on the racetrack.

02:19I drive the folks crazy here at Hill and Dale by visiting all the time but it's hard not to I mean

02:25Midnight Bizu has meant so much to myself to my family to my partners what she did for us

02:31on the racetrack and what she did for us in terms of just bringing us into so many great

02:38opportunities and situations and you want to just see that continue you know unfortunately

02:44I get to manage her career as she goes through this next stage and so I get to participate on

02:51every level with her still and and it's a thrill of a lifetime each and every time I'm out here

02:56getting a chance to visit with her and now with her offspring it's it's the next stage

03:00or the next page in the book so to speak.
