The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, rejected the criminalization of Venezuelan
00:15
migrants by the United States and demanded the release of migrants kidnapped in concentration
00:19
camps in El Salvador.
00:25
The Fourth International Colloquium Patria continues this Tuesday in Cuba with the presentation
00:29
of a documentary soundtrack to a coup d'etat by Johan Grimoire.
00:35
The event began on March 17 with the participation of nearly 400 national and foreign guests
00:39
from 47 countries.
00:46
And in Palestine, the Israeli regime broke the ceasefire agreement and launched heavy
00:49
airstrikes against the Gaza Strip, killing over 400 people.
00:55
Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisu Studios in Caracas,
01:03
Venezuela.
01:04
We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:18
In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro denounced the fascist and Nazi measures of the United
01:22
States and demanded the release of migrants kidnapped in concentration camps in El Salvador.
01:27
The Venezuelan head of state rejected the criminal actions against Venezuelan migrants
01:31
in the United States promoted by the fascist extreme right wing.
01:35
Maduro asserted that all efforts are being made to rescue those who have been kidnapped
01:39
by the Nazi government of the United States and who have created these concentration camps
01:43
to violate their human rights in El Salvador.
01:46
In this context, the president demanded that the government of Nayib Bukele cease the cruelty
01:50
and injustice against Venezuelan migrants.
01:59
It cannot be that a person for being Venezuelan is captured, kidnapped without the right to
02:05
defense, without the right to due process, without conviction, a Venezuelan is sent to
02:12
a concentration camp in the United States and has been sent to Nazi concentration camps.
02:19
In El Salvador, I asked the president Nayib Bukele, publicly president with respect.
02:26
I said to him, you said you're going to stop this cruelty, this injustice, without the
02:32
right to any process of creating concentration camps and putting noble migrants, hardworking,
02:40
good people in jails, without trial, without having committed crimes.
02:46
In El Salvador, without any type of penalty issued by a court of El Salvador.
02:52
Is this legal?
02:53
Is it fair?
02:54
Is a human Nayib Bukele?
02:59
In this regard, Albatizep condemned the implementation by the United States of the alien enemy law
03:05
and the kidnapping of Venezuelan migrants.
03:07
In a communicated state, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America, People's Trade
03:11
Treaty, expresses its most energetic rejection and condemnation of the U.S. government's
03:16
decision to invoke the Alien Enemy Act of 1798, a norm that has only been used in war
03:23
contexts and is now being used arbitrarily to justify systematic persecution against
03:27
the Venezuelan migrant community.
03:29
Further on, they add, even more alarming is the use of third countries as extrajudicial
03:34
detention centers in a practice that represents a crime against humanity.
03:38
The organization also explained that in view of this grave situation, Albatizep urges the
03:43
international community to take a firm stand against this policy of aggression and reiterates
03:48
its unwavering support for the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
04:00
And the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, led the solemn act from the National Pantheon
04:04
where they recognized the invaluable contributions of Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán.
04:09
During the ceremony, the Venezuelan president stressed the importance of vindicating the
04:12
life and work of Dr. Fernández Morán by encouraging the new generations of the country
04:17
to learn about the work of the scientists as part of the reaffirmation of the Venezuelan
04:22
identity.
04:23
He also pointed out that Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán left an indelible mark on Venezuelan
04:28
and world science thanks to his invaluable contribution to the development of the electron
04:33
microscope.
04:34
He highlighted that Dr. Fernández Morán is one of the greatest examples of human potential
04:38
taken to its maximum expression.
04:48
When you see in your homes, in your schools, in your universities, yesterday, in your communities,
04:56
the life of this man, Humberto Fernández Morán, you will be able to give meaning to
05:02
my words that in Humberto Fernández Morán, we have one of the most immense and gigantic
05:10
examples of human potential taken to its maximum expression based on ethics, morals, human
05:18
conviction and Bolivarianism.
05:21
He was a man of deep convictions.
05:29
He lived more than half of his life outside the country, and he was an exemplary Venezuelan.
05:36
Where he was he left, well, standing the flag of Venezuela, the name of Venezuela, and despite
05:43
having lived so long out of the country for different circumstances, desires of study
05:50
abroad, or persecution within the country, misunderstanding that led to another scientific
06:02
center, he never and never spoke ill of his beloved Venezuela, never spoke ill of Venezuela,
06:10
never made a gesture against Venezuela, never asked for evil for Venezuela, ever.
06:18
On the contrary.
06:19
And in Honduras, at least 12 people died after a commercial airliner crashed in the Caribbean
06:28
Sea.
06:29
Authorities also report five survivors and one missing person.
06:32
According to preliminary information, the aircraft, which was destined for La Ceiba,
06:35
made a sharp turn during takeoff and fell into the sea near the runway of the Juan Manuel
06:40
Alves Airport in Ruatán.
06:42
The national police reported that the rescue teams continued their work and there is only
06:46
one body left to be rescued, which according to the fire department would be the pilot
06:50
of the plane.
06:51
The Honduran Civil Aeronautics Agency instructed an investigating commission to carry out preliminary
06:55
investigations on the possible causes of the accident.
07:13
And the fourth edition of the International Colloquium Patria opened on Monday in Havana
07:17
as journalists, communicators and representatives of media outlets gathered to address the challenges
07:22
of digital communication.
07:23
Our correspondent in Havana, Belén de los Santos, has all the details from that first
07:27
day.
07:29
The fourth edition of the International Patria Colloquium has kicked off in Havana, an event
07:35
that gathers journalists, influencers and the collective experience from media outlets
07:39
from across the global south to think about present challenges in digital communication.
07:45
This edition also celebrates Celestor's 20th anniversary as the news platform Ambition
07:50
by Chávez and Fidel reviews its milestones in two decades of journalism thought from
07:55
a people's perspective.
07:56
We have to make a profound reflection and stop thinking of ourselves as competitors,
08:06
but also as collaborators and decisively and consciously work on common agendas.
08:14
To work in ideological exercises about what is important for the landless workers movement
08:21
in Brazil that I see them here.
08:25
That their struggle agenda be also important for the community newspaper of Jujuy in Argentina,
08:32
for a Chinese newspaper in Beijing and of course for a multi-platform such as Telesur.
08:42
Among the main topics of discussion at this edition of the Patria Colloquium is the building
08:46
of sovereign digital platforms and technologies that allow critical and anti-capitalist thought
08:52
to be fostered and shared.
08:54
That is to say, to imagine a technological future in which digital discourse is not dependent
08:59
on capitalist platforms.
09:01
We need to create our own political horizon, technological horizon that we have to challenge
09:08
this idea that this way of doing politics is the only way and the only ones that could
09:16
think about the future is the technocapital or the big corporations.
09:20
I think we can do that and we have to do it quite fast.
09:25
In CMG we have developed many good technologies and so we would like to take this Patria as
09:35
a platform and we would like to share our technology with all the other countries and
09:41
we would like to make the improvement together.
09:45
From Palestine to Africa and South America, for the participants of this event, the discussion
09:50
goes beyond viral trends and news coverages.
09:53
Coming together in Havana is the possibility to coordinate collaborative efforts to rethink
09:58
the global scene by looking at the world from the perspective of the popular movements of
10:03
our territories.
10:04
In a way, the movements are the source and the point is to look into those movements,
10:09
who is saying the interesting things, who is thinking beyond the immediate problem and
10:14
trying to generalize and find a way forward and then to try to create a kind of global
10:20
left culture out of that, have those people talking to each other, sharing experiences
10:24
and so on.
10:25
We are people's weaving networks.
10:27
Those are the words that accompany this edition of Patria.
10:31
And it is in those connections, the sharing of common experiences and agendas, that lays
10:36
the true power of the future of digital communication.

The United States will release new pages of classified files on the assassination of John
10:50
F. Kennedy.
10:51
The current President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that there are approximately
10:54
80,000 pages on the killing of the 35th President of the North American country.
11:00
In late January, President Trump signed an order to declassify files on the 1960s murders
11:05
of Robert F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
11:10
Noting that it is in the national interest to make public all records relating to these
11:13
assassinations without delay.
11:33
We're at the Kennedy Center.
11:35
It needs a lot of work.
11:36
We're going to fix it, make it beautiful.
11:37
It's a very big part of the fabric of D.C. and the Capitol.
11:41
We're bringing back the Capitol.
11:42
We're bringing back our country.
11:45
But while we're here, I thought it would be appropriate.
11:47
We are tomorrow announcing and giving all of the Kennedy files.
11:57
So people have been waiting for decades for this.
12:00
And I've instructed my people that are responsible.
12:06
Lots of different people put together by Tulsi Gabbard.
12:12
And that's going to be released tomorrow.
12:16
We have a tremendous amount of paper.
12:21
You've got a lot of reading.
12:22
I don't believe we're going to redact anything.
12:24
I said, just don't redact.
12:25
You can't redact.
12:27
But we're going to be releasing the JFK files.
12:42
Also in the United States, extreme fire conditions are expected to sweep
12:47
from the Texas Panhandle into western Oklahoma on Tuesday,
12:50
putting officials on high alert for potential wildfires.
12:53
Similar weather conditions affected the region last week,
12:56
and Oklahoma officials say at least four people have died.
12:59
In addition, the City Department of Emergency Management said Sunday night
13:02
that more than 400 homes were damaged statewide.
13:06
As Oklahomans assess the devastation to their homes and property,
13:09
officials warn of an increased risk of fire danger in the coming week.
13:22
We have a second short break coming up.

13:49
Welcome back.
13:50
Israel has ended the ceasefire in Gaza and has so far killed 412 people.
13:55
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday
13:58
that he has instructed the army to resume attacks on Gaza.
14:01
He claimed that this decision was due to the fact that the resistance movement Hamas
14:05
has repeatedly refused to release Israeli detainees.
14:08
The Gaza Civil Defense Agency announced that a series of Israeli attacks
14:11
consisting of aerial bombardment and artillery fire have injured 562 people.
14:20
One of the massacres perpetrated by the Israeli regime
14:31
came after bombing hundreds of displaced people's tents in al-Mawassi, west of Hanounis.
14:36
The attacks followed a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza,
14:39
where Israel has blocked the entry of all aid and goods for more than two weeks.
14:44
Since the beginning of their genocidal campaign in October 2023,
14:47
the occupation forces killed more than 48,572 citizens,
14:52
most of them children and women, and injured more than 112,000 people.
15:05
In the United States, the White House confirmed
15:07
that it was notified in advance of Israel's latest attack on the Gaza Strip.
15:11
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump said
15:13
that the regime of Benjamin Netanyahu consulted with the White House
15:16
about the attacks that occurred between the night of March 17th and the early hours of March 18th.
15:21
Earlier, President Trump sent a threatening message to Hamas and its allies
15:25
saying that all those who seek to harm not only Israel, but also the United States,
15:29
will have to pay a price.
15:31
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Israeli occupation broke the ceasefire agreement
15:34
and shelled areas of the Gaza Strip on the orders of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
15:51
UNICEF warns of precarious situation of one million children in Gaza.
15:56
According to the United Nations Children's Fund,
15:58
the lack of supplies after two weeks of blockade by Israel
16:00
has led to a precarious situation for the young.
16:03
The organization's West Asian office has said that one million children in Gaza
16:08
are struggling to survive without basic commodities
16:11
and hundreds of thousands are without clean water and sanitation.
16:15
Since last March 2nd, the Israeli Prime Minister ordered to block the entry
16:19
of all humanitarian aid to Gaza after the expiration of the first phase of the truce.
16:35
And during the night of this Monday, the United States carried out a new bombing
16:38
against the coastal area of Yemen, including the capital city of Sanaa.
16:42
As a result of these new airstrikes,
16:44
the Al-Habashi iron factory in Al-Salif district was destroyed
16:47
and Houthi positions in Al-Hudaida province were attacked.
16:51
In response, Houthis claim to have successfully attacked the USS Harry Truman aircraft.
16:57
This new action comes on a day when the Yemeni population came out in protest
17:02
to denounce the attacks by Washington that have caused the death of more than 50 people
17:06
in the last few days.
17:14
Also, Yemeni Armed Forces announced its third attack on the USS aircraft carrier Harry Truman.
17:20
The United States aircraft carrier was targeted in the northern Red Sea
17:24
with two cruise missiles and drones.
17:26
According to the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Jaya Sadi,
17:29
the targeting was the third in the past 48 hours,
17:32
and the enemy was struck by a state of confusion,
17:35
which prompted many of its warships to retreat.
17:38
The Yemeni Armed Forces affirmed that they will not cease targeting all hostile targets
17:42
in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea until the aggression against their country stops.
