00:00A priceless Bible, printed by the famed German artisan and inventor of the printing press,

00:06Johannes Gutenberg, is on display at the National Museum in Warsaw.

00:10The invention of movable type by Gutenberg in the 15th century enabled the faster production

00:15of books and thus eased the exchange of information, access to knowledge, and new ideas.

00:20It is one of the first copies of his Bible printed by Johannes Gutenberg,

00:25because there are errors in it.

00:28On one of the pages, there is an error on the side of the paper,

00:31which fell out during the printing process.

00:36The priceless work is over 570 years old.

00:40It is one of only a few such Bibles in the world, and the only one in Poland.

00:46In addition to the fact that it is complete,

00:50it is also almost complete when it comes to the card.

00:54The only thing missing is the last card in the second volume,

00:57which is the end of the Apocalypse.

01:00Finally, it has the original 15th-century cover.

01:03It was taken to Canada, where it was deposited in a bank.

01:06It was waiting together with other objects of Polish culture and history,

01:10such as, for example, the manuscript of the Chronicle of Galla Anonima,

01:14or the royal regalia, until the late 1950s,

02:21The recovery of these precious objects by Poland

02:24was accompanied by a show

02:27that began in Warsaw on February 7, 1959.

02:30Opening our show on the same day,

02:33we wanted to refer to the re-discovery of the Bible.

02:43For the duration of the display,

02:46the Gutenberg Bible is accompanied by a unique tour path

02:49where art lovers can learn about the medieval culture of writing.
