Storm chaser Aaron Jayjack joins us live. He's in Pachuta, Mississippi. Aaron, I see you're along
00:07
the interstate there. How are things going right now as these aggressive storms continue to rumble east?
00:15
Yeah, here near Pachuta here on the interstate things have quieted down significantly but it
00:20
got quite eventful here just in about 45 minutes ago or an hour or so. I was talking to you guys,
00:26
I was talking about a supercell that was making its way towards the interstate here,
00:30
towards my location. I got in a position for that storm just to the west of Pachuta,
00:36
staying west of the interstate because it looked like it was going to track her along there.
00:40
I had a debris ball actually went away and then right before it got to me that debris
00:45
appeared again but the storm was really wrapped in rain and I got as close as I could safely,
00:51
as close as I safely could get to the storm. I actually could hear the audible roar of the
00:55
tornado as it passed by. I saw some tree limbs down. I made my way out of that that zone where
01:01
those tree limbs were down and eventually I saw a vehicle actually had hydroplaned off the road. So
01:06
dangerous conditions here but not just with the tornadoes but heavy rain. We have flash
01:10
flood warnings here because of for just for that reason to be safe. When you're driving around you
01:15
hit those big puddles of water you can hydroplane and end up in a ditch like the vehicle I found.
01:20
But now the storms are moving off to the east, those tornadic storms moving off to the east.
01:24
We do have a few sub-severe storms just to the west of I-59 that have just initiated in the last
01:30
half an hour or so making their way here. So we should still see a little bit more rain here along
01:35
I-59 up the meridian but I would say the threat, the intensity of the threat here where I'm at
01:42
has throttled down significantly. We're watching now off to the east watching these storms move
01:47
into Alabama. We're still seeing some tornado warnings moving through the area there near
01:51
Tuscaloosa. In fact I'm watching a supercell that's making its way towards Tuscaloosa right
01:56
now that I'm a little concerned could potentially produce a tornado as a few other supercells when
02:00
they moved into Alabama just to the north of Tuscaloosa earlier there were some tornadoes up
02:05
there. So watching those storms very closely here but it looks like things are going to be a little
02:11
bit quieter here in eastern Mississippi in the next hour or two as the storms move off to the east
02:16
into Alabama and eventually into into Georgia later on tonight. Back to you guys. All right
02:22
storm chaser Aaron Jajak. Good to see you Aaron. Quite the experience there up against a rain-wrapped
02:27
tornado not far away and we could take you into the area of Alabama here where we're tracking
02:31
still several tornado threats. I wanted to point out the cell near Cullman continues to move north
02:38
and that one is now a confirmed tornado and this is moving barely east to the city of Cullman
02:44
through northeastern Cullman County. The view of this one look at this from the north to the south
02:49
from the area of the Huntsville radar site off to the east of Huntsville you can see clear rotation
02:56
and the green inbound is where the storm is moving toward the radar site the red is where parts of
03:01
the storm motions are rotating away so we obviously have some strong rotation here into the area of
03:08
northern Cullman County and now moving into southeastern Morgan County of Alabama.
