00:02Here's why the production shouldn't scare you away from Shemar Stewart.

00:09Shemar Stewart's been a riser throughout the 2025 NFL draft class.

00:13Ryan.

00:14Why is he worthy of going in the top 10?

00:17Because he's a freak show man.

00:18We're talking at 6 foot 5 plus we're talking 280 plus pounds in this class

00:22that is really lacking in high-end traits in a lot of different positions.

00:27This is a player that I'm okay betting on in the 2025 NFL draft class.

00:32Yeah, the athleticism.

00:33It's off the charts and he was a guy coming into the combine.

00:35We thought was going to test really well.

00:36He does end up actually testing at a freakish level and he finally this

00:42year at Texas A&M put those flashes together before the season that we

00:47thought that he could be so much so that he really looked like a premier

00:52pass rusher.

00:52We saw the bend.

00:53We saw the explosive this the only problem is we didn't really see

00:56the production.

00:57We're going to get to that in a second.

00:58But what are some of the tools that Shemar Stewart brings to the table

01:02that help us project him as a possible 10 plus sack.

01:05I in the NFL despite him not really having that in college.

01:09I mean, it's it's the combination right when we talk about drawing it

01:13up in a lab.

01:14What does it actually mean at the edge position first and foremost?

01:17It's the height.

01:18Oh 6 foot 5 plus it's the bulk 280 plus pounds.

01:22It's the length 34 plus inch arms and more than anything.

01:26It's the twitch and the explosiveness Shemar Stewart has all that we're

01:31going to talk about the production and lack thereof, but the one key

01:35phrase that we always talk about Joe at the edge position is you bet on

01:39traits you bet on them and even if it's not a finished product or near

01:43finished product.

01:44There is no questioning that Shemar Stewart has every trait that you

01:49look for in a talented edge rusher that can develop into a big time

01:52player in the next level.

01:54I 100% agree Ryan that he has everything that you're looking for that

01:59like an NFL defensive coach is going to say.

02:02All right.

02:02We just need to work on a few things and then eventually he's going to

02:05take that next step.

02:07I totally see that and that's why I have him projected to go in the

02:10first round and why he's one of my higher graded edge rusher prospects

02:13is that all of this all of it combined if you put together the perfect

02:18prospect, that's what Shemar Stewart is.

02:20You just got to help him improve his technique, but I look at this past

02:24year where he only registered six tackles for loss and only had one

02:27and a half sacks.

02:28He has four and a half sacks in his career at Texas A&M being a former

02:33five-star.

02:35I watch his tape and I know a lot of the argument that you get from

02:37people is that oh, he was playing in a defense that was asking him to

02:40surf read option going up against a lot of teams where he was put in a

02:45decision point.

02:46He didn't get to actually pin his ears back and just go as a pass rusher.

02:52I still saw a player who's not good at disengaging disengaging for

02:56blockers.

02:56I saw a player that's got a limited pass rush moveset.

02:59That's not really fully developed partially because of the coaching

03:02turnover and his time at Texas A&M and I also saw a guy that struggles

03:06to finish and attack quarterbacks when he does get there.

03:11That can be fixed and worked on but sometimes I worry that the general

03:16instinct isn't there for a defensive player meaning he goes on to the

03:19NFL.

03:20He ends up being good.

03:21He just doesn't live up to the hype that we're projecting of him being

03:24a premier pass rusher and all of that is fair.

03:26I think that we should be able to very easily say there is some Boomer

03:30bust.

03:31There is some volatility to a Shamar Stewart because you're right.

03:34The production has not followed the athleticism at this point.

03:37I think the one thing that gives me some solace in this projection a

03:41little bit is that he was a much better run Defender in 2024 that we

03:47had seen previously.

03:48He plays hard.

03:49He plays physically.

03:50I think there's a very solid floor for him to potentially be a good run

03:53Defender at very least but the thing that I love Joe about this player is

03:57that in this class that after Abdul Carter, you're trying to figure out

04:01who edge to is right.

04:02James Pierce jr.

04:03Falling down some boards for a myriad of reasons.

04:06Some other guys are just kind of in that little bit of second tier and

04:09might just kind of get stuck there.

04:11We're looking for a guy that's able to bet on in this class that lacks that

04:15High-end top in town after probably about eight or nine true first round

04:20grades, maybe 10 if you're kind of working down the list a little bit

04:23further.

04:23So I do think that this is a bet that I'm willing to take in this class.

04:27It is not a top-heavy group.

04:28It's not a great overall class in general.

04:31I'm okay with a team projecting with the Shamar Stewart Stewart's because

04:35there's some guys that can end up being good football players.

04:37They reach your ceilings and there's other guys that have elite level

04:41traits.

04:41If they are able to touch that it's now about Shamar Stewart getting in

04:45with the right coaching staff the right defensive system because that's

04:48the one thing that I will say that I actually agree with in your

04:52conversation against the points is that I do think that text saying and

04:56did not use him properly all the time.

04:57I think they asked him to play the point of attack.

05:00I don't think they let the chains off and let him loose all the time.

05:03I do think that there's a level up that we saw and we saw it during the

05:05senior bowl and I don't want to hyper focus over one week of practice, but

05:08we did see when they just kind of let him go.

05:11He was pretty unblockable all week, right?

05:13So here's a little bit.

05:14Here's a massive projection without question, but I do think that

05:17Shamar Stewart in this particular class is a guy that I'm okay with

05:20betting on taking a look at his background really quickly.

05:23His recruiting profile stayed at Texas A&M was recruited by Texas A&M

05:28in that super highly hyped up recruiting class of 2022 comes out of

05:34Monsignor Pace High School in Opelika, Florida.

05:37He was the third ranked defensive lineman the number one recruit in

05:40Florida and the ninth overall recruit in that 2022 class a five-star we

05:45knew right off the bat that coming in this kid had a super high ceiling.

05:49We saw some progression as I keep pointing out not a total progression

05:53towards that ceiling, but he was once a super super highly regarded kid

05:57coming into college football.

05:59It's pretty hilarious to that of that great defensive line class that

06:03we talked about that 2022 group for Texas A&M.

06:06This could be the only first-round pick that actually came out of Texas

06:09A&M, which is pretty hilarious, right?

06:11Because like Walter Nolan, maybe a first-round pick depending on

06:14somehow the backgrounds check out.

06:15We also might be talking about LT Overton this time next year out of

06:18Alabama.

06:19That is obviously of course a very talented defensive line in his own

06:22right, but it's a really interesting background again, didn't do much

06:25his first two years, but you start to see the wheels turning this this

06:29past 2024 season and you're hoping that continues obviously moving into

06:32the future in the NFL.

06:34Wrapping us up with the pro comp as we do on all these videos his combine

06:38numbers were insane 65267 34 and 1 eighth inch arms.

06:42He runs a 459.

06:43We like the idea of Jason Pierre Paul the once super dominant pass rusher

06:48for the New York Giants and I like that because Jason Pierre Paul at

06:53coming out of South Florida was not overly productive.

06:56There was a little bit of projection and improvement that needed to be

06:59had and we saw that improvement.

07:01So if Shemar Stewart hits that ceiling that would be a pretty nutty

07:05improvement and what he could do in the league.

07:08I just I can see it in my mind a six foot five plus 280 plus pound

07:12Shemar Stewart being able to do a backflip like everyone lost their

07:15minds when Jason Pierre Paul did coming out of South Florida toolsy

07:18all the upside in the world, but was very raw coming out of South

07:21Florida.

07:22Similarly what we see with a Shemar Stewart coming out of Texas A&M

07:25if you flash forward four to five years, you tell me that this kid is

07:28one of the more talented pass rushers and talented defensive line in

07:31the NFL.

07:32I would not be shocked one day just for some context during JPP's

07:36testing.

07:36He was 270 pounds.

07:38He runs a 471 so not quite as fast but still very very athletic for

07:43his size folks.
