Mexico's Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday approved constitutional reforms on national sovereignty proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, in the face of tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the designation of Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations. teleSUR

00:00The lower chamber of the Mexican Congress approved on Tuesday the constitutional reforms

00:05in regards to national sovereignty sent by President Claudia Sheinbaum. The resolution,

00:10which was approved in particular with 327 votes in favor and 116 against, sets the requirement

00:18of preventive jail time to the crime of terrorism, including arms trafficking.

00:22It also states that no foreign intervention will be allowed or tolerated under any circumstance.

00:29The legislators who defended the proposal ratified that it is not just another reform

00:34but an unprecedented advance that makes it clear that the country will not accept

00:39interventions, meddling or any other act from abroad that is harmful to its integrity.

00:46The bill was then sent to state parliaments.
