The Mexican Chamber of Deputies approved in general on Wednesday the reform of the judicial branch by
00:06
359 votes in favor and
00:08
135 against, after a session that lasted 11 hours.
00:12
The session took place in an alternate headquarters due to protests that tried to prevent the session. The reform aims at
00:19
democratizing the judicial system in the country by, among other things,
00:23
establishing the election of ministers, judges and magistrates and other public positions
00:27
through popular vote, as well as the reduction of the term in office.
00:32
Furthermore, under the principles of republican austerity, it intends to put a stop to the excessive and onerous
00:38
expenses of the judiciary.
00:48
During his speech this Wednesday morning, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador,
00:53
celebrated the approval of the reform that will go to the Senate.
00:58
Well, it's very good news.
01:02
Ah, well.
01:04
It is very good news.
01:06
Very good news.
01:09
It passes already to the Senate.
01:12
357 against 130. How much was needed?
01:18
334.
01:20
Yes, very good.
01:22
During her intervention in the president's morning program, Elisabeth García Vilchís
01:27
affirmed that they have repeatedly denied scandals against the reform in the past.
01:33
They created a scandal in social networks and WhatsApp groups to try to deceive people, and so it goes.
01:42
This is the fifth time that in this section we deny this fake news.
01:47
They don't get tired of their deceiving attempts.
01:51
In this context, García Vilchís went on to further deny the scandals and false news
01:56
published against the reform in the media and social networks since September 3rd.
02:03
Last Tuesday morning, September 3rd, a sort of synchronized swim in lies happened against the reform to the
02:10
Constitution of Mexico City regarding private, public and social property,
02:14
as it was repeated everywhere that with the entry into force of this reform,
02:22
private property would disappear in Mexico City and that the owners of houses,
02:27
apartments or land would be obliged to hand them over to the government, or else the administration could expropriate them.
02:34
But all of this is false.
