00:00Most people seem to love the DJ Reed signing and I think it's by all accounts a

00:05Bargain, and we're getting a little bit into the what's next and speculating what we think that our guy Brad Holmes might change

00:14The way things have been going

00:16It feels like he's reacting to the context of where this team is which with if that's the case

00:23What change would you like to see him in terms of breaking his his typical behavior? I talked about how

00:30I think this draft he might draft more

00:33Specific to position. I think he is loaded up on the talent

00:36He's got to be comfortable where this roster is looking to improve it and he might have already done that in the secondary

00:43But I think they might be targeting positions more for a couple of reasons one way fewer needs and

00:51Because of those needs that they have

00:54They're deep at the draft is deep at edge rusher and defensive tackle

00:59If you're picking at 28 and 60, which they are and secondly is

01:04I think he's gonna be looking for his next Christian mahogany and that is

01:08Mid to late round guy that they think that they can develop they don't need anything from right away

01:13but they'll develop him to replace departing players and

01:19You can't keep everybody when you draft as well as they have and in one year

01:23They're gonna have guys do an extension will include Aiden Hutchinson Jamison Williams Brian branch and Sam Laporta. I

01:30Don't think they're gonna let Hutch walk the other three

01:33if they take a safety wide receiver and a tight end and a mid to late round and see if they can develop one

01:39so that that

01:41That player that's do a contract they can afford to let walk while they sign everybody else

01:46Maybe they can fit them all under the cap, but who knows? Well, I think you've been very logical with your approach there

02:13Just hearing that makes me smile because this is well after they had already signed

02:19So if you were even considering Josh sweat that means you were considering a player that was going to be north of 15 million dollars

02:25A year, which means they have money left to spend in free agency on players of consequence

02:31So whether that comes in the form of an edge rusher and there's a bunch of edge rushers out there

02:35That could be a bargain basement prices now guys that are certainly on the downside of the career, right?

02:39But guys who can still make an impact like a von Miller type you want to take a shot on a Joey Bosa?

02:45You can and they come with obviously there's plenty of peril that comes with it, but high-risk

02:50I feel like the high-end edge rusher from from days of yore is available. Yes, Joey Bosa

02:56DeMarcus Lawrence von Miller. Yeah

02:59Are all there well and and same thing when it comes to to wide receivers

03:10These are wide receivers that are available and oh, you know what?

03:14You might have a but also Mike Williams and Elijah Moore

03:17You also might have a shot at Cooper Cup if he's not traded. Yeah, so if Cooper Cup isn't traded

03:24I imagine that that he might be a real intriguing option having worked with Jared Goff in the past and

03:31If you're talking about a one-year prove-it deal

03:34That's a great candidate to have you know

03:36What's crazy is people a lot of people started draining the bank accounts yesterday, too

03:40A lot of teams started draining the bank accounts and that's why you get that's the Vikings

03:45Okay, so Tim Patrick you just a quarterback, but right they sure beefed up the offensive defensive lines

03:51You talk about the wide receivers that you just mentioned Tim Patrick is there they could bring him back

03:55And then I've been talking about Nick Westbrook Akina for days here

04:00I think he's wide receiver three through and through I think they have in the past

04:06Targeted a legit wide receiver three a guy that is happy in that role and can play that role very well

04:11They went from Josh Reynolds to Tim Patrick, and I think Akina would be that he was a free agent a couple years ago

04:16It was met with a soft market last year. He had nine touchdowns

04:2030-something catches he had one 98-yard catch

04:24Which is pretty amazing because he only finished like 460 yards

04:29One catch was 98 yards 25% 20% of your production on one catch one catch one catch

04:36There are so many receivers available, man. That's why he's a wide receiver three. I mean Tyler Lockett's another one

04:46They're all over the place man Tyler Boyd. Yep

05:14That is really intriguing. I wonder what that really means, right? Yeah, well a close. Did they make a call?

05:25I mean what if you added because the money that you were gonna spend on sweat

05:30Let's say you were able to go out and get Cooper cup and Matthew Judd on

05:41I'm not looking to sign these guys long term

05:43I just want this team to be improved for the one year and have the shot

05:46I mean, they could bring back to Darius Smith for all for all we know that would be an interesting move

05:52I don't I don't expect it at this point, but

05:59If he hits the open market, I actually suspect that he will because everybody knows the deal

06:12Could check real quick and see what his salary is for the year if you're picking him up

06:19And by the way, you know, if you look at teams that got hit hard by the cap all that San Francisco has lost

06:26Yeesh they have lost a lot

06:30so the list of players that they had to let walk is

06:34long so Cooper cop is he has two years left on his deal and

06:41Base salary is twelve and a half and fourteen point eight and that's why they're gonna

06:47That's why nobody's gonna trade for nobody's gonna trade for him

06:50So he'll hit the free agent market and then does he get a one-year ten million dollar deal?

06:54Is it one of your eight million dollar deal? Yeah

06:57Two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven as far as these veterans are concerned. I'll tell you there's one guy

07:04That I would not have considered but given what they're looking for

07:08What about the Marcus Lawrence? I know he's older

07:12but he got off to a really good start last year before he got hurt and

07:17He had three sacks in the first four games he can play three downs

07:23He's been around

07:26You know, he's not perfect

07:28But you're talking about a cheaper option veteran opposite of hush

07:34That not everybody that you that has been hurt is gonna be hurt again

07:39And if he weren't hurt last year, he might have put up big numbers. It wouldn't be in their price range

07:44So you have to kind of pick and choose where you're gonna take your chances

07:47And I don't I think

07:49Demarcus Lawrence might be an interesting alternative at the edge rusher. I don't have an issue with that

07:54No, no, I think there are so many

07:56At this point. It's just I feel like there are plenty of edge rushers that yeah, sure upgrade over what they had

08:04Yeah, you know, I just think that's that's the standard that I have to have is is it an upgrade over what you had last year?

08:10You know is Demarcus Lawrence. Can you count on him more than you were able to count on Marcus Davenport?

08:15Probably probably and you're already in the brought Davenport back, but in real team-friendly contract

08:21So if he's healthy awesome, if he's not, okay

08:24Well, we're protected against that and and then you you go out and get another edge rusher. I get to Marcus Lawrence. That makes sense
