00:14At this point, we will talk about the programs of the current administration here in Mr. President On The Go.
00:23First of all, my fellow countrymen, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inaugural distribution of cash gifts for the beneficiaries of the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024.
00:36The Republic Act 11982 includes 10,000 pesos for senior citizens aged 80, 85, 70, and 75.
00:51The law also requires 100,000 pesos cash gift for centenarians under the Centenarians Act of 2016.
01:03The President delivered cash gifts to 14 senior citizens in the Palacio de Malacanang,
01:09marking the start of a nationwide distribution effort that is simultaneously paid out to all regions.
01:17A total of 1,079 senior citizens will receive cash gifts through this nationwide distribution effort.
01:26Medical and legal assistance to payout centers will also be provided through the efforts of the National Commission of Senior Citizens or NCSC.
01:38Meanwhile, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also said that the initiative is to encourage our senior citizens to be compassionate and loving,
01:49and to ensure that they will receive the recognition and kindness that they should receive from the government.
01:56The President also recognized the important role of families as caregivers due to their love and support for the elderly.
02:05In response to these concerns, the President mentioned several initiatives to improve the lives of senior citizens,
02:13including benefits under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act, including 5% to 20% discount on various services.
02:245% discount for utilities including water and electricity consumption,
02:30up to specified limits at 20% discount on transportation, medication, healthcare services, and recreational activities.
02:40In addition, the law on free healthcare services for grandparents in government health facilities is also being passed.
02:49These seniors are being encouraged to receive the medical care they need without financial burden.
02:55The government plans to give Php 2.9 billion in cash gifts this year for more than 275,000 senior citizens across the country.
