Cardiff City’s star man Salech aiming to help secure Championship safety

00:07They are still fighting for their lives in the division, hoping not to go back down to

00:10League One, but one of their shining lights has been Yusuf Saleh amongst others as well.

00:15There have been some good players, it's fair to say. Not all of it has been doom and gloom,

00:19but Saleh in particular, since he's arrived at the club, has been the revelation, certainly

00:23for the Bluebirds. And so just how good has he been? Can he be the one? You know, some

00:28teams, as much as football is a team sport, sometimes individuals just are the basis of

00:34that team. For Cardiff at the moment, it would certainly appear that is the way it is with

00:39Yusuf Saleh. So just firstly, what can he help achieve with Cardiff this season? Can

00:44he get them out of the mess that they're in? And if he is to stay beyond the summer, what

00:48could they do next season if they get the recruitment and the strategy right going into

00:53a new season? Could they be a potential mid-table playoff contender come next season?

00:58Yes, hopefully. That's the end goal, I think. I mean, Cardiff City, there's no secret they

01:04have a very patchy record when it comes to signing strikers and that record is a lot

01:11worse when it comes to foreign strikers as well. But I think seven appearances, three

01:16goals, an amazing sort of commit into the side. Obviously, Yusuf Saleh, he's only 22

01:22years of age. He scored 11 goals in 27 games last season in Sweden's top flight. I mean,

01:28it was a really good deal, actually. Just £3 million or so for him. Maybe a bit of

01:34a gamble, yes, but he's come in and he's looked absolutely fantastic. Late goals against Millwall,

01:44late goal at Bristol City as well to secure points. These are important moments and he's

01:51come in and he's made such a difference to this side, I think, in terms of confidence.

01:55He's just there. So, it also puts that sort of striker record down a little bit. It says

02:01we can sign players who are in to score goals. I mean, he's a player who now, yes, he's coming

02:06in January and he's made an impact. They need to make sure that he's nearing a start. He

02:11obviously hasn't made many starts for Cardiff. He's come off the bench, he's made an impact,

02:16but Maurizio has said that he is knocking on the door for a first Championship start

02:21and he feels that he's ready to do so. Only 22, as I say, and arguably they're shining

02:28light this season. There's not been many individual standout performances from across the Cardiff

02:33team, the Cardiff squad as well. There's been some good youngsters, don't get me wrong,

02:38but Salah coming in has made a massive impact. It just comes to show that there is business

02:45that can go well in January and hopefully they're aiming to stay up and they can avoid

02:51the drop and continue to achieve well throughout the Championship next season.
