00:00Summer's here and Birmingham's packed with festivals, family events and three days out.
00:07From Reg A in Hansworth to Folk in Moseley, this city doesn't sit still for six weeks.
00:13Whether you're planning with kids, mates or just looking for something different,
00:17we've pulled together the highlights.
00:19Here we've been out to break it all down, Emma Walker from Birmingham World.
00:23Do you know what? You need to get your diaries out
00:26because there is so much going on this summer in Birmingham and it's going to be so fun.
00:32So I'm going to kick off. We're going to talk about the Simmer Down Festival.
00:37This is on the 27th of July in Hansworth Park.
00:42It's one massive reggae-fueled day out under the sun.
00:46You're going to see families picnicking, kids busting a move by the food stalls
00:52and bright colours everywhere you look.
00:54Locals call it a day full of culture, food and togetherness
00:59and the best of all, it really is the best thing of all, is that it's completely free.
01:04So you can just turn up.
01:05So that's one not to miss.
01:08Then, on the 19th and 20th of July, we're heading over to the Birmingham Mellor.
01:13That's in Victoria Park in Smethwick.
01:16This is one loud, proud event.
01:20It's full of flavour, bangra beets, Bollywood performances and spicy street food.
01:27And there's a fun fair too.
01:29It's one of the biggest cultural events in Europe.
01:32It draws people from all over.
01:34And if you've never been, trust me, it's a total sensory overload, but in the best way.
01:39I'm definitely going to be going again this year.
01:42Now, if you're looking for something a bit more mellow, you can check out the Moseley Folk and Arts Festival.
01:49This is on from the 29th to the 31st of August.
01:54So, nestled by the water in a private park, it's all about folk music, storytelling tents, crafts, comedy, poetry.
02:03One of the mums we spoke to last time who went there said,
02:08it's a feel-good event with loads of smiles and dancing.
02:12I think that's a really nice way of putting it.
02:14Plus, it's super family-friendly.
02:16It's just a really nice place to unwind away from the massive crowds.
02:21And don't miss the Bulls in the City.
02:24This is going to be a city-wide art trail.
02:29So, it's going to run from the 16th of July to the 14th of September.
02:34And it's going to be across the city and all local artists and businesses are involved.
02:40It's fun.
02:41Again, it's free.
02:42And it's a great excuse to explore the whole city on a fun trail.
02:46One with the kids, I imagine.
02:48So, it looks like it's going to be a great summer in Birmingham.
02:51I think it's going to be really entertaining for all ages and we can't wait.
