00:00Even though it's recess, the leader of the Senate has already prepared the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:08In response to the petitions from the Supreme Court up to the impeachment, the Senate has already appointed the Solicitor General, Harley Valbuena, as the center of the news.

00:21Because the impeachment has already been filed, there is a possibility that there will be an impeachment trial and the Senate needs to prepare for it.

00:29We cannot waste our time, even though it's recess, in preparing for it.

00:34This is what Senate President Francis Chiz Escudero said at a press conference in Quezon City this Wednesday, regarding the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:46Escudero said that he is already preparing the tools and the system for the impeachment trial, as well as possible changes to the House Rules on Impeachment.

00:58Yes, we are already looking for a supplier, we are already canvassing for the ropes. We are fixing the system for the visitors, the ID of the various parties.

01:11Because they will go there every day, it's like they are already employed by the Senate, so they won't lag behind.

01:17And also for the visitors who might want to watch live in the Senate, I am also fixing the budget regarding that.

01:25Despite this, the impeachment trial will not start until the 28th Congress opens, and until the 12 newly elected senators are seated.

01:38The Senate President instructed the Office of the Solicitor General to comment on the petition to the Supreme Court for the immediate start of the impeachment trial,

01:49while it will not request a special session from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

01:55However, Escudero answered the petition sent by Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel and the position paper of Bayan Muna,

02:03who was the one who called for the immediate start of the impeachment trial.

02:09Fourthly, within the bounds of law, it is illegal for me to convene now because we don't have a session.

02:16I don't want to rush it because the House of Representatives relaxed for two months, and now we are rushing it?
