00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. passed two important laws.

00:05These include the law that will reduce the burden on independent power producers

00:10who have an agreement with the government,

00:12and the law that will give three-year terms to the PCG commandants.

00:18Clayzel Pardilia is the center of the news.

00:23In order to ensure a sufficient supply and to be able to supply electricity,

00:27President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed the Executive Order No. 83.

00:33It stipulates the reduction of the cost of living

00:37and the removal of interest and fine to the facilities of independent power producers

00:43that have an agreement with the government under the Build-Operate-Transfer Scheme.

00:48This will keep the operation of power generation facilities,

00:52avoid the closure of plants that provide 3,100 megawatts of electricity,

01:00which may also lead to an increase in the price of electricity or rotating brownouts

01:05if the operation is stopped or closed.

01:08Under the EO83,

01:10more than 80% will be covered by several local government units.

01:14The cost of living will be reduced for independent power producers in 2024

01:19based on an assessment level of 15% of the fair market value of their facilities.

01:25Interest and fine will also be canceled to those who did not pay the real property tax

01:30so that the IPPs will not pass.

01:33In order for the leadership of the Philippine Coast Guard to be stronger and more effective,

01:38the Republic Act No. 12122 was passed.

01:42It clearly stipulates the importance of officials, terminals, and retirees in the PCG.

01:48A maximum of three years of term for the commandant

01:52in order to avoid the frequent change of leadership that may affect the operation of the PCG.

01:58If the term is over or if the position was left early,

02:02the commandant must retire mandatorily to improve the new leadership.

02:07The merit-based promotion will also be strengthened

02:10from the flagship officers of the PCG to the current commandant.
