The Met Office has predicted more “spring-like” weather will arrive this week, with potential highs of 16°C in some places.

00:00It's going to be a slow old process, these weather fronts, the low pressures just continuing to

00:05nudge away that area of high pressure on Wednesday.

00:08This weather front's got a bit more about it.

00:10It'll have some thickening cloud and outbreaks of rain

00:13creeping into the southwest, West Wales and Northern Ireland.

00:16So a damp day for Northern Ireland.

00:18Some of that rain just trickling into southwest Scotland,

00:21maybe northwest England by the end of the day.

00:23Again, though much of eastern England will be dry.

00:26Still single digits here, but it is turning a little milder, 7, 8 degrees Celsius.

00:31And more widely across the south, double figures likely,

00:35particularly if it does brighten up across the southwest for Wednesday afternoon.

00:39Notice, though, there is more wind and rain

00:42just knocking on the door out west from another weather system.

00:45And the rain will build up in western areas.

00:47That's what this graphic is showing, the 24-hour rainfall accumulations

00:51through Wednesday and Thursday and Friday.

00:53Notice, not much at all getting to the east.

00:56So it will be a largely dry week here.

00:58But in the west, the rain really building up a little bit

01:02through Thursday and Friday, especially when the rain could be heavy,

01:05particularly over the hills.

01:06So the hills of south Wales, north Wales, northwest England,

01:09southwest Scotland and across Northern Ireland.

01:12So it is turning wetter through the second half of the week.

01:14Why?

01:15Well, it's all to do with what's going on high in the sky,

01:18low levels, we've got low pressure.

01:20But the jet stream is getting a bit of a kick to it.

01:24It's getting a bit of welly as it pushes in across central parts of the Atlantic.

01:29And that's going to develop areas of low pressure that will whiz our way,

01:33bringing the moisture and bringing the outbreaks of rain

01:36and that southwesterly wind, which will lift the temperatures

01:39everywhere by the time we get to Thursday.

01:41But it will also bring outbreaks of rain, particularly for Northern Ireland,

01:45western Scotland and spells of rain on those weather fronts

01:48as they come into England.

01:50Always fizzling out there.

01:51So, as I said, not much rain getting to the east.

01:53And look at the numbers by the time we get to Thursday with a bit of sunshine,

01:5713, 14, maybe even 15 degrees Celsius.

02:00That will feel very different to how it has done for most of February so far.

02:05Friday is a similar picture with another fairly active area of low pressure.

02:09Depending on how that interacts with the jet stream,

02:11it could really spin up into quite a deep area of low pressure.

02:14The ice was squidging together further.

02:16So Friday could be very windy in these western parts.

02:19And also pretty wet also.

02:22So that does need watching as we go towards the end of the week,

02:25where this weather front lies.

02:27Quite a soggy day on Friday, most likely over western parts of England and Wales.

02:32But as always, at this kind of range, it could be a little further east.

02:35It could be a little further west.

02:36Where we see some brightness, though, again,

02:38temperatures getting into the teens, 15, 16.

02:41It is a possibility on Friday where we do see some sunshine,

02:45even when it's raining all day, 12 or 13 is a lot milder than it has been.
