00:00Over quite a long period of time the traffic up here mostly behaves itself

00:09but there are a few individuals that will go through here at a ridiculous

00:15speed and I mean ridiculous. I am spotting red light jumpers on the

00:21junction just behind us where we're standing because they know there's a

00:26brief delay between the light changes and that's all very well

00:32unless you're a pedestrian crossing the road because if you are and you're

00:37expecting the traffic to have stopped that can be very dangerous and we've got

00:42we have two pedestrian lights here at the junction across the main road but no

00:49pedestrian lights crossing either the Minster Road or St Mildred's Avenue. We

00:55don't know the details of what happened you know it seems quite likely that it

00:59simply was a horrible accident. Yes it did focus my attention on it because

01:03I've been waiting for you know a serious accident down here and we had one and I

01:09thought I'll post this you know I'll put this petition together. You know people

01:14people do take the mickey down here and you know a regular incident

01:21is here when when the road isn't coned off is as soon as those lights change

01:26people will race up the inside and further down there are cars parked and

01:34instead of pulling out in good time what you'll regularly see is people racing

01:41right up to where the cars are parked and then forcing their way into the main

01:45traffic so you know where I live you'll regularly hear horns going as people do

01:52that and it's it's it's just bad driving simple as that. The introduction of

02:00average speed cameras on either side of the light so in that 40 miles an hour

02:04stretch you're not monitored at one point I mean you watch the cars up there

02:09they will slow down for the speed camera and then speed up again with it with an

02:14average speed camera you can't do that you've got to obey the limit all the way

02:18through so average speed that side average speed this side red light

02:24cameras to stop the jumpers and really as an additional safety thing the

02:32introduction of pedestrian lights on both the Minster Road and on St Mildred's

02:37Road which are absent at the moment so school children have to

02:43cross that those two roads and pretty much dodge the traffic it's not easy
