I tested positive first on January 11th and I was so worried about my mom so I went and I got her
00:05
tested immediately and she tested positive. I took her to the hospital, I did all the tests on her
00:13
and the hospital released her because they said she was fine but a few days later on January 20th
00:19
her oxygen dropped and I rushed her immediately to the hospital. Unfortunately my mom didn't make it
00:26
um Covid caused severe pneumonia which hit her lungs and all her organs suddenly just stopped.
00:38
I always tell my family that I'm actually very lucky that she got sick here in the UAE
00:44
not back home because the government here just the United Arab Emirates
00:50
especially the Dubai authority they contacted me
00:53
and they knew that she was just on a visit visa and she's not a resident and they took care of
01:00
all her treatment expenses. They actually even helped me to move her body back home to Jordan
01:07
which was her only wish to be buried with my dad and you know in these situations moving the body
01:14
out of the country is not easy especially if the cause of death was Covid and I would like
01:21
to extend my gratitude and many thanks especially to the Dubai health authority
01:28
especially for Ms. Amna Al-Swaiti, Dr. Salah Al-Bahwi and Al-Naqeeb Adel Al-Qadiri. This guy
01:39
even opened up the police station for me on a Friday. My mom passed away on a Thursday so moving
01:45
her papers on the weekend was just impossible. He managed to get me the original death certificate
01:53
her embalming papers everything was done on the weekend. We managed to move my mom back home
01:58
on Sunday. She was buried on Sunday. I can't thank them enough. I can't thank them for
02:03
their humanity and unique generosity and I'm very lucky to be living in this country.
02:12
When the pandemic started in March, Dubai government has initiated the command and
02:18
control center for Covid-19 and the objectives of the command and control center is to
02:24
make sure that in Dubai we are set and have all the support and enablement
02:33
to fight the pandemic. We had formed a team from the relevant stakeholders, the police,
02:39
the municipality, the RTA and every relevant entities. So generally we are let's say more than
02:50
20 direct involvers on those cases. We consider every case is a personal case
03:00
and we deal with every case by its specificity and the type of
03:08
of the complexity that it comes with. We are dealing with the specific people
03:14
by specific name. We call them, we make sure all the public services has been
03:19
finished, executed despite the fact of the desire of the family on how the
03:26
termination either is going to be buried if he's a Muslim and how we're going to deal with him if
03:29
he's not Muslim, how we're going to deal with him. If he wants to be dealt in a different way
03:36
then we welcome any case in their desire, not in the government's. And this is very
03:42
important because people need to feel at that point that they are supported and their desire
03:47
and their belief have been highly respected. As soon as we receive the details of the death person
03:54
from the commit of the hospitals, private and government hospitals that we deal with,
04:02
they tell us the details of the death person and his relative. We directly contact the relatives
04:10
and share with them our sympathy regarding what they have. Then guide them where to do, what to do
04:17
regarding taking their wish about the action they want to take about the
04:25
body, the dead body or the remains. Then we regarding that we are moving from that side
04:31
and above with also discussing the problems that maybe they will like facing like in a visa,
04:43
changing visa or the money that they have in like
04:52
the money they are facing in some banks.
04:57
Also even the food, if they don't have food, we are supporting them fully. The team
05:06
is trying to tell the people that they are not alone in Dubai. We are with them. This is actually
05:12
we are facing once we are visiting any country outside, we will be alone that we don't know where
05:18
to go that we need somebody to guide us. So here we feel about people and we want to tell them that
05:25
they are not alone in Dubai.
