00:06Here are the top stories at this hour.

00:08U.S. authorities have warned residents displaced by a killer hurricane that its devastation

00:14was far from over.

00:15Hurricane Florence dumped epic amounts of rainfall across the southeastern U.S., bringing

00:20catastrophic flooding and up to 13 deaths.

00:23Florence made landfall on Friday as a Category 1 hurricane, but has since been downgraded

00:28to a tropical storm even as it continued to wreak havoc along the East Coast.

00:33It downed trees and power lines and forced 20,000 people to flee to shelters.

00:39Hong Kong and southern China, meanwhile, hunkered down under red alert today as strong winds

00:44and heavy rain from Typhoon Mangkut lashed the densely populated coast.

00:49It came a day after the biggest storm of the year left at least 28 dead from landslides

00:54and drownings in the northern Philippines.

00:57Nearly half a million people had been evacuated from seven cities in Guangdong province where

01:02the typhoon is due to make landfall later today.

01:05Mushfiqur Rahim smashed a brilliant career-best century to steer Bangladesh to an emphatic

01:11137-run victory over Sri Lanka in the opening Asia Cup match in Dubai.

01:16The former captain's 150-ball 144 with 11 4s and 4 6s lifted Bangladesh from a precarious

01:241-for-2 in the first over to 261.

01:28Sri Lanka, who have won five Asia Cup titles, lost half of their side for 60 in the 17th

01:34over before being bowled out for 124.

01:37Mexico's Sol Canelo Alvarez dethroned unified middleweight champion Kennedy Golovkin by

01:43a majority decision last night to win a hard-fought rematch.

01:47Alvarez showed skill and durability to outlast Golovkin in another attritional battle between

01:53the two rivals at the T-Mobile Arena.

01:55With one judge scoring it even at 114-114, Alvarez claimed the win after two judges scored

02:02it 115-113 in his favour.

02:06And finally, the weather.
