Human Rights Group Suara Rakyat Malaysia claims that two of its leaders have been arrested
00:06
by the police in relation to a probe into their allegedly illegal entry into the Home
00:11
Ministry's complex earlier this week.
00:14
Suaram claimed that six policemen from the Putrajaya Police Headquarters arrived at the
00:19
NGO's office today to arrest its Executive Director, Sivan Doraisamy, and Coordinator,
00:24
Azura Nasrun.
00:26
The pair were informed by the cops this morning that they were coming to the office to serve
00:30
them with a notice under Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code to give their statements
00:35
to the police.
00:37
In a statement, Suaram claimed they informed the two that they were coming to serve a 111
00:42
notice but ambushed them with an arrest instead.
00:45
Suaram and the family members of detainees under the Security Offences Act 2012 had shown
00:51
up at the Home Ministry on Monday to submit a memorandum demanding urgent answers about
00:55
the detainees' well-being.
00:58
A Home Ministry official met with the families outside the Ministry's complex but only said
01:02
that she would relay their concerns.
