00:11U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Western and Muslim leaders to unite to defeat the

00:17false promises of extremism and reject terrorist claims to represent Islam.

00:22The terrorists do not speak for a billion Muslims, Obama told delegates from 60 countries

00:27at a White House summit on countering radicalism.

00:30He chose to face down the critics, saying we are not at war with Islam.

00:33We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.

00:36Top U.S. diplomat John Kerry, who will host a ministerial meeting today aimed at drawing

00:41up an action plan, called it the defining fight of our generation.

00:46Libya has asked the U.N. Security Council to lift an arms embargo so that it can deal

00:51with Daesh and other militants.

00:53Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Dairy said that it would help the government build its army

00:57and deal with rampant terrorism.

00:59Meanwhile, Qatar has summoned its ambassador to Egypt over Egyptian airstrikes in Libya.

01:06Cricket and the UAE produced a spirited performance in the opening match at the World Cup today,

01:11but eventually went down by four wickets to Zimbabwe.

01:14Playing their first World Cup match since 1996, the UAE racked up a competitive 285

01:20for 7, batting first in Nelson.

01:23A shock was on the cards when the UAE then reduced Zimbabwe to 167 for 5, but an unbeaten

01:29knock of 76 by Sean Williams saw his side over the line.
