00:11In a bid to improve safety in Abu Dhabi, city planners have issued a set of new regulations

00:15to ensure that no safety and security hazards exist in buildings and public places.

00:20They said a lack of adequate lights in crowded places or the lack of a strong barrier in

00:24front of jewellery shops could help criminals.

00:26The Safety and Security Planning Manual, which officially comes into effect today,

00:30is applicable to both existing and new infrastructure developments.

00:34US Secretary of State John Kerry will hold talks today with Israeli and Palestinian

00:38leaders to try and keep the peace process from collapsing.

00:41Kerry is expected to urge both sides to reach a long, elusive deal.
