00:00The Lakers made another spot splash on trade deadline Eve Wednesday evening in

00:05the acquisition of third-year big man Mark Williams who has been plagued by

00:09his own injury issues only 85 games played in total in his first three years

00:15in the Association fewer than 25 this season and a failed physical now leading

00:22to a rescinded trade between the Lakers and the Hornets so welcome back to Los

00:27Angeles Dalton Connect Mark Williams stays in Charlotte the deadline has

00:32passed the Lakers cannot make another deal for another big around the NBA

00:38Donnie what was your reaction to the Lakers making the deal initially for Mark

00:42Williams adding that young inathletic big man but knowing his injury history

00:46now having that deal rescinded yeah it's kind of interesting it was a buyer's

00:51remorse that the Lakers had at that point did they make the deal and then

00:54realized 24 hours a like oh how can we get out of this which is simple you can

00:57always get your medical team to say this isn't working because correct me

01:00if I'm wrong Ben I want to say I read the press release that was like oh we

01:04knew he had a certain injury but we didn't even fail him for that it's for

01:06another thing that we're not going to release and also don't connect we knew

01:10coming out of college the most polished offensive score in the draft here and

01:14was providing some pretty good depth to the Los Angeles Lakers had some great

01:17nights early on coming off the bench and or starting it was one of those

01:20eye-scratches cool but they knew they needed a big to replace Anthony Davis so

01:24it made sense on that physical level but then again rescinding the trade I

01:28asked the question again was there actually buyers remorse where fans

01:33weren't happy maybe they didn't think it all the way through they made the trade

01:36at a haste and if there's anything whatsoever wrong with Mark Williams they

01:41were gonna send the back and they didn't have it for don't connect boy what a

01:44whirlwind they're like oh man I'm going from an organization that's in Los

01:46Angeles to one of the dregs of the NBA now I got to get out of my apartment

01:50maybe my lease maybe buy a new house maybe I'm here I might even head to the

01:54practice facility oh by the way you're going back to LA congratulations and

01:58even without Luka Doncic yet to make his debut as we thought maybe early could

02:04happen Saturday at home against the Pacers no LeBron James in that game

02:14off for 40 plus and 15 dimes whatever it was against Indiana the Lakers have won

02:20five consecutive games nine of their last 10 31 and 19 the Lakers in the five

02:30small slide from what would be the fourth spot in the Western Conference

02:34hosting an opening round playoff series and that's before Luka Doncic makes his

02:39debut so here is where the Lakers are right now up it went total 49 and a half

02:45minus 4,500 price to get to the postseason a 9 to 1 number to win the

02:50Western Conference that got down to plus 750 Donnie after the Mark Williams deal

02:56what it seemed as though they had added a promising young big now not

03:00necessarily the case Donnie in your estimation what is the Lakers outlook

03:05for the remainder of this regular season what does success look like in LA with

03:11LeBron and Luka it's so hard that you say that because when you start saying

03:17LeBron James synonymous with I need to get to the finals and win finals that's

03:22my job here as one of the best players on the planet still at his age but

03:26success for me excuse me success would be get to the playoffs win a round or two

03:31be competent enough to possibly make the and the conference finals but I don't

03:37see them winning here like honestly I love Luke I think it's a great

03:39basketball player they still have a lot of things to work out not a lot of time

03:42to get those factors in and you're right they lost a great defensive big which

03:45you don't have now success for me is to leave myself into this all season going

03:50you know what LeBron's gonna come back Luke is gonna be 100% we'll add a piece

03:54now we're ready for a championship run show me a championship caliber run here

03:59without doing a championship if that makes sense that's success for me I

04:03think bare minimum would be one playoff series victory to get into that second

04:08round of the Western Conference postseason but it would be funny right

04:13because the narrative of coming up short with Luka Doncic and LeBron James by

04:17the time we get to April and May it's certainly going to have a lasting impact
