00:00sort of basking in the afterglow of the Eagles' upset,

00:05narrow upset, but I think in the way they won,

00:08pretty significant upset of the Kansas City Chiefs,

00:1140 to 22.

00:13Again, it was a tight spread, it was a virtual pick-em.

00:15It's not the catastrophic upset in that way,

00:18it's just the way in which Mahomes and that offense

00:22and the Chiefs were manhandled and outplayed.

00:26I'm not sure we can possibly give enough credit

00:29to Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator of Philadelphia.

00:32I mean, despite, again, Jalen Hurts being

00:35the most valuable player of this game,

00:37all the talk that should come out of this game

00:39in the days and weeks to come

00:41is people sort of celebrate the season

00:43and look back and all, it should be on the defense.

00:47The defensive performance, much honestly,

00:49as it was when Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl

00:52there with Tampa, he wasn't anything special in that game.

00:55They won because of the defense,

00:57the way that Tampa Bay similarly worked

01:01Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense in that game.

01:05That ultimately is what got the job done.

01:08It was this, if you can find a way defensively,

01:12don't worry about getting into a shootout

01:13and outscoring them, kind of like how the Ravens

01:16and Bills are built to compete with Kansas City and the AFC.

01:20If you can find a way to stifle them defensively,

01:23that is how you ultimately dethrone them.

01:28There are two keys, and whether it's the draft,

01:31free agency, trades acquisitions,

01:33I think there are two keys, maybe three.

01:35It is facilitating the pass,

01:38and you can break that down in two sections,

01:39would be protecting the quarterback

01:41and then enabling him with weapons,

01:43and then hindering the pass on the defensive side,

01:46and that's what the Eagles did,

01:48is bringing the pressure and hindering Mahomes' ability

01:50to have clean pockets and move around

01:54and go through his reach.

01:54So when you're drafting players,

01:55it has to be defensive players that are downhill players,

01:58getting after the quarterback,

01:59or it's going to be defensive or offensive linemen

02:01to protect the pass.

02:03That's what teams should be focusing in on.
