Thousands protest across Germany against far-right extremism ahead of snap elections

The far-right, anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany is currently polling in second place as the country prepares to head to the ballot box on 23 February.

00:30The 12-year-old AFD has consistently denied it's racist and in March last year called

00:36party members from immigrant backgrounds to testify in court that it isn't.

00:40But one of its key manifesto promises published last month is re-migration, a phrase long

00:46used in far-right circles to describe the mass deportations of immigrants.

00:51Some of the party's other manifesto pledges have proved equally controversial, such as

00:56the abolition of the Euro and the reintroduction of military conscription.
