00:13On discussions over proposed guidelines for Muslims attending non-Muslim events, Saravanan

00:18warned that the unity government risks losing support from both sides if it continues introducing

00:23restrictive policies.

00:24He said that while the unity government has always emphasized that matters pertaining

00:28to race, religion, and royalty should be kept low-key, Naeem seems to be seeking political

00:33mileage by announcing something which is a mere proposal.

00:37Saravanan said MIC was not politicizing the issue, but expressed concern that such guidelines

00:41could strain interfaith relations.

00:44Following criticism over the yet-to-be-released guidelines, Naeem yesterday urged detractors

00:49to refrain from polemicizing the matter, saying they were drawn up with noble intentions.

00:54Under the proposed rules, there can be no speeches or songs with religious propaganda

00:58or performances that would insult Muslims, while the premises cannot display the religious

01:03symbols of faiths other than Islam.
