00:00Growth of a prominent trailer maker, investment in a new golf facility and a

00:05double MBO of workwear firms. That's all coming up in today's business briefing.

00:15My name is Lawrence Kilgannon. And I'm Adam Beach. Well, morning Adam. One that caught my eye

00:20this morning was the investment in a new golf facility. As you know, golf

00:25stories tend to be popular with our readers. So perhaps you can tell us a bit more.

00:29Of course, it's regarding Ramseide Hall Hotel in County Durham, who are

00:34investing more than six million pounds, excuse me, into what it

00:38hopes will be a top UK golf facility. The site is looking to add a

00:44multi-million pound golf academy, as well as a leisure entertainment hub. The

00:49development will include a 43 bay driving range, a six lane indoor bowling

00:54alley, as well as a sports bar with interactive games and pool tables and

00:59screens to show live sports. Tell me this, are you a golfer? No, I can't say

01:03I've ever played proper, I've played mini golf and that's about my level, I think.

01:06Fine, well that would be the same as me. I have tried to play golf and do enjoy

01:11the idea of it. So these sort of stories do appeal because these are the sort of places

01:15where you can go for like a weekend with friends. Yeah, it's quite an

01:19attractive offering. Yeah, of course. Sadly, I then disgraced myself on the course by

01:24hacking it around. I imagine I would be the same. But maybe I could use the

01:27training facilities at Ramside to improve my game. It's good to see. And there's a phased opening of the

01:34development taking place between March and August. Right, okay, great stuff. Well

01:40away from that, as many people on the roads will see a trailer, it will

01:45quite often be Ivor Williams trailers. They are a North Wales business and

01:50they've posted some results with their turnover has gone up close to the

01:54£100 million mark. So a great result for them. As well as trailers, they're also

01:58behind horse boxes, car transporters and products like that. And they've also

02:06had a great sort of profit return as well. The pre-tax profits almost reached £13

02:11million for them in their latest financial results. They did caution about

02:15the sort of rocky economic climate in the country at the moment, but

02:21things are going good at the moment. Now you've also got news of some

02:26hospitality news from the East Midlands. That's right, in Leicester. It's regarding a

02:30former Wetherspoons pub and plans to convert the site into a new hotel. The

02:36plans are due to be reviewed by Leicester City Council's planning

02:40committee next week. And they propose the conversion of the former Las Plantagenet

02:46pub into 56 self-catering hotel rooms, along with a multifunctional space which

02:53will operate for conferences and small events and the like. Interesting, because

02:57Wetherspoons, they often are in grand buildings. Yeah, they're usually quite

03:01appealing. So it's no longer Wetherspoons, and this is a development that's looking to bring it forward.

03:05The Wetherspoons closed in 2019 and the site's got a little bit of history. It was

03:10built in the 1950s and was originally a furniture store, quite prominently. And

03:15the plans for the scheme will be reviewed on the 12th of February. Okay,

03:19and relatively unusually to conclude, we've got news of a double MBO. We cover MBOs

03:25all the time. This was two sort of standalone firms, operating as sister

03:29businesses, which have both been acquired by management. They're both in the

03:33northwest of England and they are Warrington-based J&K Ross and Nelson in

03:38Lancashire-based Dale Techniche. Together the businesses have about 50

03:44employees and a combined turnover of 10 million pounds. So, you know, a decent

03:48sized operation. And they've been acquired from the Ross family by a

03:52management team, which is led by Neil Willock. Now, as ever with these

03:58situations, we like to point out the advisors who worked on the deals and

04:01that includes law firm Bermans. They advised the management team. Close

04:07Brothers provided finance for the deal. And then they were also supported by

04:11Coits, DJH Corporate Finance and Coal Associates. So, we wish them the best of

04:17luck under the new management. I'm sure that will be a popular story this
