00:00Hi, I'm Alan, the owner of the Tipsy Turtle Bar and Restaurant in Leosola.

00:07Fabulous. Tell me what makes Tipsy Turtle special?

00:11I think we do good food, but I think the special part is our cocktail range.

00:18It's been really popular in the local area. We make them all completely fresh,

00:23nothing out of the can sort of thing, it's all completely fresh.

00:29That's what makes it special.

00:31Tell me why you wanted to open up a bar and restaurant?

00:35I've been in the trade since I was 18, and I've worked for Webster for well over 20 years.

00:45Anyone who's worked in the trade, that's sort of a dream to have your own venue and do your own thing.

00:52So the opportunity came up and I just went for it. I took the plunge.

00:58Tell me what the reaction's been like since you opened?

01:01It's been really good. The people of Leosola are lovely and have been really supportive,

01:06especially through the winter when it's a bit tougher. It's been really, really good. Well received.

01:14Tell me what's the most popular thing on your menu?

01:17Food, I would probably say it's the pizzas. Our pizzas are made fresh.

01:23The dough's made on site and made completely fresh and they've been well received.

01:28We do like a pizza, but I'll get one free night on Wednesday nights, so they've been really popular.

01:36I'm really proud that we're a small local business and that we try and support other small local businesses.

01:44For example, the butchers we have across the road, we use their meats for all the things on our menu.

01:52Most of what's on our menu is cooked completely fresh from scratch. We don't buy stuff in the microwave food here.

02:01We're also particularly proud of our Sunday roasts. People receive them quite well and I think they're really good value for money.

02:11They're also very good. There's a few other things on the menu like our freshly ground coffee.

02:18A few of us today are having the coffee. It's very good, very good quality.

02:26Tell me, has Tipsy Turtle got any sort of live events coming up?

02:30Yeah, we've got a singer for Valentine's Day and we're doing a three-course meal for a price. It's quite popular.

02:37Just after that, in about four weeks, is Patrick's Day. It's not far behind.

02:43We've got a singer for Patrick's Day weekend and we're going to try and put some live music in once a month, once every four weeks.
