00:00And now we have with us a special guest who has succeeded despite all the trials he faced.

00:06He is the President of the Golden Crown Global Awards Philippines, Dr. Ray Balibago.

00:12Dr. Ray, welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines. Good morning.

00:16Thank you so much. Thanks for being a part of this morning's show.

00:23And I'm so glad. Thank you so much, Rain, Rise and Shine.

00:29Dr. Ray, we want to know, what is the story behind your success?

00:37I am from Pagod, Ilocos Norte, actually. That's where I came from.

00:44And now I'm living at Dasmariña City, Cavite.

00:48When I was still young, I was dreaming of going to high school, elementary.

00:56I was already dreaming when I was young.

00:58I didn't want our life back then because we were going to farm in the province,

01:04in Pagod, Ilocos Norte. We were going to farm and plow the land in our area.

01:10We didn't have our own land.

01:12And our house, it was just grass, just grass, the roofing back then.

01:22So I said, I don't want this life.

01:24I should be somebody in the future.

01:27So what did you do, sir?

01:28So my first dream was to be a waiter when I was in elementary.

01:33But when I was in high school, my dream leveled up.

01:37And I said, I want to be a professor at a university or college.

01:43Okay, so you became a professor.

01:44All of that happened.

01:46The only problem was that our family couldn't afford to send us to school

01:51because we were a family of siblings.

01:55Our parents said, if you want to study, you should go to Manila.

02:01And you should be a working student.

02:02So that's what I did.

02:04After graduation, when I was 16, I went to Manila.

02:07And then, I had siblings who were security guards in Manila.

02:14And they forced me to go to Secure, but I didn't qualify because I was young.

02:20So I became a janitor.

02:22That's the first job I got while I was in Manila.

02:25And then, I studied at the same time.

02:29Actually, I was a janitor at San Miguel Corporation Glass Plant.

02:34And then, because it's hard.

02:36Because sometimes, when you're a janitor, you have to go early.

02:41How did you reach being the president of the Golden Crown Global Awards?

02:46Actually, before I became the president of the Golden Crown Global Awards,

02:49I was able to put up my own company.

02:52And that is Oxford Young Colleges and Oxford Philippines International School.

02:57I am the founding president of these two schools.

03:01Actually, they're three.

03:02There's another growing school in Tansa.

03:04It's Oxford Wellington School in Tansa.

03:08So, when I was working to study, I even had an accident.

03:18Here it is.

03:19Okay.

03:22Because of the machine I was operating.

03:25When I was in college, I became a factory worker at United Laboratories.

03:30And there at UL, I had an accident.

03:33The machine ate my three fingers.

03:36But this did not stop me from pursuing what I wanted to be.

03:41I did not lose hope.

03:43Because I believe that the Lord is there to guide me.

03:48And I still finished my studies.

03:51Because I left the province after the accident.

03:54I left the province.

03:56And that's where I finished my studies.

03:58Because I was already in my third year when I had an accident.

04:00Okay.

04:01Well, congratulations for that achievement.

04:03Dr. Ray has been through a lot.

04:06And it's really sweet for sure the feeling that you got the achievement that you have now.

04:12But I want to focus on Crown Global Awards, Incorporate.

04:15Tell us about that organization.

04:16The Crown Global Awards is an awarding body recognized by the Philippines.

04:22And we give awards to individuals or groups of individuals,

04:26including companies, corporations like that.

04:29Because we would like to motivate them to do better

04:32in their chosen field of specializations or whatever that they have.

04:37They are engaged into, you know.

04:39What is the nomination here?

04:42We have, we have, we are scouting nominees actually, you know.

04:49And we encourage those who wanted to nominate.

04:56And we have an evaluation committee.

04:59And this evaluation committee is composed of doctors, PhDs, and EDDs.

05:06Like Dr. Pineda of Western.

05:09Dr. Santoral of Vietnam, University in Vietnam.

05:14Dr. Taubias of UP.

05:16Yes, truly.

05:17I am one of them also.

05:18Evaluating qualifications.

05:21This makes CGA different from other awarding bodies.

05:25CGA is authentic.

05:28Authentic in the sense that we only give awards to those who deserve the awards, you know.

05:33And it is inclusive in the sense that we give awards to everybody.

05:37Not only those who are known or famous.

05:40Not only those who are rich.

05:41But even those who are not well-known, not rich.

05:46They are given awards here.

05:48Okay.

05:48Maybe for those who want to nominate.

05:50And want to be one of your activities.
