00:00Siti Mastura Mohamad of PAS has paid RM830,034.75 to the lawyers of three DAP leaders pending her appeal against the enforcement of the judgment in their defamation case against her.
00:15The payment was made to the account of S.N. Nair and Partners, the law firm that represented DAP veteran Lim Kitsiang, former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, and Seputek MP Teresa Kok in their defamation suit against the Kepala Batas MP.
00:30Siti Mastura's lawyer, Yusfarizal Yusof, said his client made the payment on the condition that the money will be kept in the solicitor's account pending the disposal of the appeal in the Court of Appeal.
00:42He added that the arrangement was agreed on by both parties.
00:46Last year, the court ordered Siti Mastura to pay RM300,000 to Kitsiang, RM250,000 to Guan Eng, RM200,000 to Kok, and RM25,000 in legal costs to each of them.
00:59On December 4th, the High Court found Siti Mastura guilty of defamation for linking the three leaders to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Xi Jinping in her election speeches.
01:11The court ruled that her statements were baseless and damaging to the leaders' reputations.
01:16Case management for the appeal would be held on March 13.
