Once-in-a-lifetime snow creates unforgettable memories across the Gulf Coast

People from the Gulf Coast to the Southeast experienced unbelievable, record-breaking snow on Jan. 21. Here's a small sample of their reactions.

00:00I can't believe I'm standing in front of the Welcome to Florida sign with about five to six

00:04inches of snow at my feet. I mean it's just truly unbelievable. We've been down here since 2015

00:14and this is the first time I've been able to make something that big. This is a rare event here in

00:18the Houston area, a once in a lifetime event here. I've seen snow before but never in New Orleans.

00:25I think somebody forgot to tell South Louisiana. It really is special. I was as excited as he was

00:30when I woke up this morning. I was like let's go, let's go. Up in the attic looking for the

00:35snow stuff and this has definitely been unusual for the folks out here. We don't have any snow,

00:40you know, you're not ready for it down here. Don't have snow shovels, don't have snow

00:44tires. I gotta say I like your boots. Some Louisiana snow boots right there.

00:51Never seen this before but I get to snowboard a lot so might as well pull the board out.

00:56Look at this, I'm walking through a few inches of snow here on the beach mixing in with the sand

01:03on Pensacola. Eight and a quarter inches, almost eight and a half inches. Wow. This will certainly

01:09be a historic snow event. It's freaking snowing, holy crap. I've talked to several people. This is

01:16the first time they've ever seen snow. One guy was from Florida and he moved here and he's like,

01:20I've never seen snow before and big smile on his face. So, you know, up north there might be

01:25another day of snow for people up north but for here this is an event. This is a lifestyle,

01:30something they'll probably remember the rest of their lives.
