00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03A multi-million pound project to revamp Chesterfield's historic marketplace is progressing,
00:09with the council hoping to move traders back to the top half of the market soon.
00:13Levelling work is currently taking place along with the installation of bollards and signage on High Street.
00:18Another section of the High Street from Clarks to Packers Row will be closed during the week of January 27th as further work takes place.
00:26Chesterfield Borough Council said they are working with its contractor to establish when traders will return to the top side of the main market square.
00:34Phase 1 has focused on the upper half of the marketplace,
00:38and visitors to the town centre will have seen the council's contractor, Thomas Bow,
00:42relaying cobbles which have been lifted, cleaned and levelled off to form smooth surfaces.
00:47These will be relayed along with some sections of new paving, making the area more accessible.
00:53Work to create structures which will form a new market stall layout have also been taking place,
00:58paving the way for the creation of new timber stalls, providing more cover for traders and shoppers, and colourful new canopies.
01:07A Derbyshire fashion designer says her new country style dress has sold out almost straight away,
01:12and has had to restock to keep up with demand.
01:15Melissa Drabble, founder of Buckstone, says her latest piece in the country living collection launched last week and went viral.
01:22She said,
01:29Melissa only started the brand in 2024, officially launching at the Chatsworth show in the autumn.
01:35Uncertain of how many to order from the manufacturers, Melissa only did a small production run of the £179 dress.
01:42Now, after it's sold out, she's gone back to increased production and the dress is now available in all sizes again.
