Mother and son laid to rest after losing lives in Ulu Tiram fire

Two of the three family members who perished in the early Friday (Jan 17) morning fire in Ulu Tiram, Johor have been laid to rest.  After a prayer ceremony, Ng Geok Choo, 63, and her son Lee Chiw Yong (sic), 30, were cremated at a memorial park in Ulu Tiram at 1pm on Sunday (Jan 19). 00:20The funeral was attended by relatives and friends of both victims, who were killed when

00:24flames engulfed their house in Jalan Limau Manis, Kampung Orin, on Friday morning.

00:30Aung's 11-year-old granddaughter, Chen Si Jing, also perished in the fire.

00:36The girl is expected to be cremated at the Johor-Baru-Tionghwa Association crematorium

00:41on Monday morning.

00:43Si Jing's brother, 12-year-old Yu Rong, suffered burn marks on his face and hands and is being

00:49treated at Hospital Sultan Ismail.

00:52The blaze damaged about 80% of the house.
