Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded to statements made by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, in which he insisted that drug cartels should be considered terrorists.

00:15groups implies many things and she said that she would only consider the good side of Rubio's

00:22In this sense, Sheinbaum welcomed the intentions that, according to Politician, the U.S. State

00:29Department has to coordinate alliances with Mexico for the benefit of both nations on

00:34security issues.

00:36In this context, Sheinbaum pointed out that these same proposals are the ones that the

00:41Mexican government has been putting forward and described them as good.

00:50I take Marco Rubio's word for it.

00:53In this interview he gave during his ratification in the Senate, he says two very important

00:57things, which is what we have been saying.

01:08One is that the Department of State favors coordination with the Mexican government and

01:12that is what we have been talking about, and to address the problems of migration, the

01:16problems of security, the drug trafficking.

01:29The best thing to do is to coordinate with the Mexican government, as well as to coordinate

01:33at the highest level, and respecting our sovereignty we can collaborate and coordinate to reduce

01:38the criminal incidents in Mexico.

01:48To avoid the trafficking of weapons from the United States to Mexico, and at the same time

01:53we can contribute in everything necessary to reduce the fentanyl crisis they are facing

01:57in the United States.
