00:03And I see my father today and I see my mother today and they're both

00:06much happier than I think they would have been together.

00:08I must tell you, mom dressed me for my father's wedding.

00:34a modern family situation.

00:36That is kind of cool and y'all have all handled it with a lot of maturity

00:38and I know it's taken a while to get there.

00:40Sara, for you, I mean, you're somebody I know that as a child

00:42you looked up to Kareena as a great actor.

00:44Pooh.

00:45Yeah, she was Pooh.

00:46She's, I mean, there are moments still where she's like Pooh

00:48and I'm like, no, okay, she's my father's wife also.

00:51Yeah, she's also your father's wife.

00:52But I mean, for you to make that shift in your life,

00:55like, you have your parents and then you have this other woman

00:58who's an actor who you love and admire, is now your father's wife.

01:01Was there a point that you said,

01:03I have to be pragmatic about this situation,

01:05be emotionally sensitive to my dad, my mom, everyone?

01:08Like, did you go through that dilemma at that time?

01:10You know, I feel that everybody's been very clear with me

01:15vis-a-vis the equations.

01:16It's never been confusing.

01:18Kareena herself was saying, and she still says that,

01:20look, you have a mother and you have a great mother at that.

01:23And what I want is for us to be able to be friends.

01:27My father also never said, you know,

01:29this is your second mother, or made it any way uncomfortable.

01:33Everybody was very clear.

01:34Call her Choti Maa.

01:35Never, never, never.

01:36Never.

01:37I mean, I think Kareena would probably have a nervous breakdown

01:39if I was to call her Choti Maa.

01:41She'd be like, what? No.

01:42I just wanted her to be for fun.

01:44For your film, Slap Mom.

01:44Yeah, that was kind of, I mean, it was bizarre.

01:48Not a title she loves, I think.

01:49Yeah, it's not a title she loves.

01:51Not at all. I mean, I used to be like,

01:52you know, what should I call her?

01:53Kareena, Kareena aunty.

01:55And my father was like, you don't want to call her aunty.

01:57You don't want to call Bhebu anything.

01:58She doesn't think…

01:59She wants to call her K or Kareena, you know.

02:00I don't think she wants Taimur to call her mom.

02:02Yes.

02:04So, I don't think that there was any way,

02:07any confusion about what, which equation was.

02:10And, you know, I also feel that somewhere down the line,

02:13it's very important to respect what other people want.

02:16And I see my father today and I see my mother today

02:19and they're both much happier than I think

02:21they would have been together.

02:22Right.

02:22You know, and therefore, everybody around them is happier.

02:26And I think what I have now is two very comfortable homes

02:29as opposed to one uncomfortable home.

02:31So, I really, really think that I win.

02:33But that's beautiful.

02:38You know, mom is happy, you're happy,

02:40Kareena is happy and we're all happy.

02:44As I said, quintessential beautiful modern family.

02:47When I was getting married to Kareena

02:49and Sara was very excited and wanted to,

02:52you know, was coming over and was at the Taj.

02:54Yes.

02:55And Ibrahim,

02:57for just some reason, before going down,

02:59I wrote a note to Amrita and I said,

03:02you know, this is a new chapter starting

03:04and, you know, we've had our history and everything

03:06and something along the lines of good wishes,

03:09I hope, for both of us and something, you know, to carry on.

03:12And I sent it to Kareena.

03:14Yeah.

03:15And I said, have a look at this.

03:16If it's okay, I'm thinking of sending it across, whatever.

03:18Yeah.

03:19And she was like, I think that's really nice.

03:20Sent it across and then Sara called me and said,

03:23you know, I was coming anyway.

03:24Yeah.

03:24But now I'm coming with a happy heart even more.

03:27How nice.

03:28And I think that story kind of just sums up

03:30the attitude of everyone involved.

03:32I must tell you, mom dressed me for my father's wedding.

03:35So a lot of people, you know, would be of the opinion

03:37that there was like, you know, Kareena was being weird

03:40or mom was being weird.

03:41You were.

03:42I have a flash of walking into a room

03:43where you were getting ready.

03:44Yeah.

03:45And your friends were with you.

03:46Yes.

03:46And I walked in and I saw a flash and I said,

03:48this is actually gorgeous.

03:49Yeah. And it was very, very comfortable.

03:51And whether it was Kareena saying that I don't want to be your mom,

03:54I want to be your friend, whether it's my father,

03:56always, you know, respecting my opinion

03:58and making sure that I'm comfortable,

04:00whether it was mom being obviously very comfortable in her skin

04:04and dressing me and saying, go and have a good time

04:06and be there for your father.

04:07Everybody was so mature that I had no, I mean…

04:10So great.

04:11It wasn't a big deal at all.

04:12Someone being difficult could be a nightmare for me.
