On his first trip to Taiwan, Lithuania's former Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis received a government honor for his contributions to closer ties between Taipei and Vilnius.

00:07Gabriel Luce Lansbergis received the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon from

00:11Taiwan President Lai Ching-de. During his time in office, Lithuania allowed Taiwan to open a

00:17representative office in a Baltic state with the name Taiwanese, despite opposition from China,

00:23and it donated COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan. Meeting with Lai, Lansbergis reiterated that

00:28freedom-loving people should stand together.

00:32And I have a belief that this is the connector, this is the main connector

00:36between Lithuania and Taiwan, a feeling of freedom and support to each other.
