00:16Ako Bicol Representative Elie Zaldico came down as chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations.

00:23In the session of the House Committee yesterday, Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos motioned.

00:29Mr. Speaker, I move to declare vacant the position of chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations.

00:36There's a motion. Chair, here's no objection. Said motion is carried.

00:43In a statement, Ako Bicol thanked his fellow mayors for accepting his decision to come down as chairman of the Committee on Appropriations.

00:54He said it's a heavy decision for him, but he also needs to focus on his health.

00:59It's said that becoming chairperson of the Committee is demanding.

01:04In the past three years, he has been proud of his accomplishments in his leadership,

01:10such as helping the Kapos Angkita Program or AKAP.

01:14He has not yet mentioned that he will replace Ako Bicol in the upcoming position.

01:18House Speaker Martin Romualdez stood up in the plenary and gave a speech in front of fellow congressmen.

01:25Romualdez insisted that in the coming weeks, they will hold oversight hearings

01:31to ensure that the country's funds will meet the needs of the people.

01:37To those who attacked us to stop our investigations, we have a message for them.

01:45We will continue the work that the government has entrusted to us.

01:50We will not back down in any battle for the country.

01:59Romualdez also praised the economic success under the Marcos administration in 2024.

02:06This growth is the fruit of visionary leadership under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

02:14and his transformative Build Better, More Infrastructure Program,

02:19which injected over 1.2 trillion pesos into projects that now connect dreams

02:26to opportunities across the archipelago.
