Hello, I'm Nathan Judo, I'm here with Wolves Reporter, Mr. Liam Keane, Compton Park, it's
00:14
FA Cup weekend, third round baby, Bristol City against Wolverhampton, Wanderers, we've
00:18
just heard from Vito Pereira, head of the game, and let's talk about the FA Cup in general
00:23
of course, his first taste of FA Cup action and he's looking forward to it isn't he?
00:28
Yeah, we spoke on the podcast didn't we about how brilliant competition it is, a wonderful,
00:32
amazing competition and how this is not a priority for Wolves and how we're not really
00:37
bothered whether they get through or not and I mean that with all the goodwill in the world
00:40
because the Premier League is the bread and butter for Wolves, it's the priority of this
00:44
season, it has to be, at the same time it is a special competition, it's a historic
00:47
competition and Pereira spoke very nicely about it, he spoke previously when he arrived
00:52
at the club about how he used to watch Premier League football at home and sat on the sofa
00:55
and he did sort of the same analogies talking about the FA Cup and how big a competition
00:59
it is in comparison to the other countries, Portugal being one of course, it's his homeland
01:04
and how different that is to the sort of importance of the Cup in other countries, here it's maybe
01:12
weighing slightly in comparison to what it used to be in some people's eyes, for me it
01:16
hasn't, I think it's a massive competition and he's going to take it very seriously,
01:20
he wants to win the game.
01:22
He wants to win the game but I think it's fair to say we can expect changes from let's
01:27
say Newcastle on Wednesday night which as you said previously is the priority, goalkeeper,
01:33
so Wolves have got three goalkeepers, four, come on, four goalkeepers, three goalkeepers
01:41
who have got a chance of starting this game, let's be honest, sorry Tom King, which one
01:45
do you think he will choose and why?
01:48
I thought already, we both thought already that it would be Sam Johnston, he did pretty
01:53
much everything but say those exact words that it's going to be Sam Johnston, he did
01:57
say that, and I'm near enough quoting him directly here, Sam should have an opportunity
02:04
to show his qualities basically and he spoke generally around the goalkeepers because first
02:08
of all we're expecting Johnston to probably get a game tomorrow which is, he'll want to
02:12
impress and want to do well and he said look when I came in I had a big decision to make,
02:16
Jose Sarr, Sam Johnston, I went with Sarr, he said so far he's doing well but he did
02:20
fire a little warning to say not that Sarr's done anything particularly wrong but to say
02:24
that look if someone doesn't perform, goalkeepers or out or any other position that they will
02:29
look to make a change so Sarr has got the pressure, he's got the competition, he has
02:33
to continue to perform otherwise there'll be a man ready to take his place.
02:37
Do you feel that he'll want to carry three or four goalkeepers going into the second
02:41
half of the season or can you see one of Sam Johnston, Dan Bentley and Jose Sarr not being
02:46
at the club come February 3rd?
02:48
I don't think you can rule it out and I don't think it's a dead situation to say definitely
02:53
one of them won't go but Pereira seems pretty relaxed on having them for the rest of the
02:59
season, now if you're going to ask me for next season and beyond I think that's a much
03:02
bigger question but it seems that the likelihood is that they will probably continue with these
03:06
goalkeepers through for this campaign, if Jose Sarr keeps his place between now and
03:11
May Sam Johnston himself has probably got a decision to make alongside the club.
03:16
In terms of the injuries and who have missed out recently are we expecting anyone to return?
03:21
I don't think so, unfortunately, yeah Totti we knew at the Forest game he was about one
03:27
to two weeks away so he's not going to be available, Pereira was asked about Dawson
03:33
and Samedo, said I don't think so in terms of them being ready and available, sort of
03:38
hinted that Newcastle could be the right game for them, he also went on to hint that it
03:43
could be a little bit of a youthful side tomorrow which we'll come on to which will be interesting.
03:50
One player that is back is training, it's Andre back from Brazil, he's available for
03:56
selection but Pereira made it pretty clear that he's got a decision to make there, I
04:00
would hedge my bets and say he probably doesn't play, he probably travels maybe on the bench,
04:04
doesn't start, he's probably roughly about where Wolves are but yeah, those players hopefully
04:08
coming back pretty soon with Newcastle coming up.
04:12
So in terms of a younger, more youthful line-up, who are the names do you think that could
04:17
be in with a shout?
04:19
So, Kundle, I think it has to be in that frame, I think it has to be, at the same time Wolves
04:27
are looking to get him a move, he's keen to go and play so it's likely if they can get
04:32
something done then he'll go this month but as it stands he's available, he's there, I
04:36
think he's got a good chance of playing.
04:38
Alfie Pond?
04:39
Alfie Pond has got a good chance of playing, Bastien Peu as well, those two defenders with
04:44
Wolves' shortage of defenders have to be in the frame, Pedro Lima I think will start considering
04:50
Samedo being out, he started the Premier League game of course.
04:53
Rodrigo, he's probably got a good chance as well you'd have thought?
04:56
I don't count him as a young player, I know age-wise he is but they signed him for £12.5m
05:01
so I wouldn't put him in that same sort of category, Lima I suppose is kind of similar
05:05
as well.
05:06
One of the youngsters, Pablo Sarabia?
05:07
He may play but he's definitely not a youngster.
05:11
So yeah, there's not actually a lot of players that could come straight into the XI, there's
05:17
a few that could travel, Wes Okuduwa was on the bench for the Forest game, he could very
05:22
easily travel for this one, Fletcher Holman has just left for Solihull Moors, otherwise
05:25
I would have said he potentially could have as well, there will be a couple of players
05:29
that they like having around the training, they could travel with the team, may make
05:32
the bench.
05:33
Get that senior experience of a match day.
05:35
Exactly, and it will be interesting to see how Pereira weighs up and finds the balance
05:39
between picking a team good enough to win this game, because Bristol City, look Wolves
05:43
will be favoured but they're no mugs by any means.
05:44
Just outside the play-offs in the Championship.
05:47
But also giving enough players a rest, not risking enough players to have Wednesday and
05:52
beyond their priority.
05:53
So do you want to predict a team or not?
05:57
I'll go with what I said on our website, theexpressionstyle.com.
06:02
Where are they?
06:03
Visit it now.
06:04
Loads of adverts.
06:05
Shut up.
06:06
It's behind a paywall.
06:07
Don't say that, they don't know.
06:10
Yeah, the predicted XI I went for, which in hindsight maybe I might drop one or two youngsters
06:16
in, but I want to stick with what I said.
06:18
Same formation.
06:19
Johnston in goal.
06:20
Lima.
06:21
Agbidu.
06:22
New signing.
06:23
Bueno.
06:24
Dock.
06:25
Rodrigo Gomez.
06:26
Doyle.
06:27
Jaume Gomez.
06:28
Bellegarde.
06:29
Larson.
06:30
And Carlos Forbes.
06:31
Yeah, I'm excited to see Forbes actually, if he plays.
06:32
He hasn't really had much of a chance yet.
06:33
So it's a good chance for him to show.
06:34
He's got to do a lot more, absolutely.
06:35
So there's a chance.
06:36
And look, he should be bossing these kind of teams, let's be honest as well.
06:37
I'm going to bring Pond into that team.
06:38
I'm going to bring Cundall into that team.
06:39
I'm going to bring Pond into that team.
06:40
I'm going to bring Pond into that team.
06:41
I'm going to bring Pond into that team.
06:48
I'm going to bring Pond into that team.
06:49
I'm probably going to bring Huang into that team as well.
06:52
You said to Matthew before, you've changed to Pond now.
06:53
I've changed to Pond.
06:54
Oh, he's changed.
06:55
Changed to Pond after that press conference.
06:56
Oh, interesting.
06:57
Changed to Pond after that press conference.
06:58
We should have seen.
06:59
We've both gone for a Wolves win, an easy Wolves win, haven't we?
07:02
I wouldn't say easy.
07:03
I've gone penalties after extra time.
07:04
I've gone extra time.
07:05
2-1 in extra time.
07:06
Oh, get ready.
07:07
It's going to be a cold one.
07:08
We'll see you soon.
