00:11Twice a month, Alaisa goes to the grocery store.

00:15They say that there are a lot of people living in their house,

00:17and they are able to afford their 12,000 pesos budget in groceries every month.

00:21If you look at it, it's big.

00:23But it seems like Alaisa only bought a handful.

00:26She is worried if the price of groceries will increase.

00:30Of course, it's hard, especially for people like us.

00:33We don't have a lot of work. It's hard.

00:36But according to the Department of Trade and Industry,

00:39it's possible that the price of groceries will increase,

00:42but they assure that it won't reach 5%.

00:46Actually, these manufacturers, they really also understand the plight of the consumers.

01:00Some of the expected increases are bread, sardines, noodles, coffee, and milk.

01:06Meanwhile, the Department of Archiculture will set the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice.

01:12According to the DA, starting January 20, the most expensive imported rice is already 58 pesos.

01:18We cannot set it. We will recommend to the President price ceilings.

01:22The President will declare the price ceilings.

01:25As of now, the price of imported rice has reached 65 pesos.

01:30They will also consult with the supermarkets

01:33to make sure that the expected price of imported rice will follow.

01:37The DA is also starting to sell cheap rice for 36 pesos.

01:43And through this, the price of rice will be lowered.

01:47Maybe a little.

01:48Because, of course, if more people buy the cheap rice, then the demand shifts.

01:54The demand will move from this 5% rice to cheap rice.

01:59It is expected that there will be a full launching of cheap rice in the next few days.
