00:00The Patriots have put in a request to interview Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for their head coaching job.

00:08Like, they're not gonna, they're gonna hire people.

00:11It's gonna be a sham interview, it's not gonna be a real interview, but at least they're, and they are forced to do it.

00:16You have to do it.

00:17Because of the Rooney rule, you have to do an interview process.

00:20I guess you don't have to interview Ben Johnson per se, but you have to do the process.

00:24Um, good.

00:25Worst thing that happens is you talk to the guy, you get some ideas, and maybe you go into the meeting and go,

00:31wow, he's really interested in coming here, he really likes Drake May.

00:34Maybe we should think a little larger than just handing the job to Mike Vrabel, who was good in Tennessee.

00:40Winning record, bunch of playoff appearances, went to the AFC title game, beat Bill and Brady in a playoff game.

00:46But we can do better and we should think bolder than that.

00:50So that's, that's good news, I'm not surprised by it, but that's according to Burt Brear.

00:54They have put in a request.

00:55Will he take the meeting?

00:56Will it go anywhere?

00:57We'll see.

00:58But that's a good start.

00:59You know, and it's funny, because I've heard some people push back on Ben Johnson,

01:02who would be my number one, uh, choice if it was up to me.

01:05Yeah, your 60-second plan, that's who you had, right?

01:07One minute, I got, I fixed the Patriots, and, uh, it did involve them, I think, having the first pick, but regardless.

01:13Oh no, maybe it didn't at the time, but it was, it did have Ben Johnson.

01:16And anyway, some of the pushback I've seen is...

01:18That actually was Wiggy's, Wiggy, number one in Wiggy's plan, or at least one of his points was,

01:22make sure you get the number one pick, or you're out the window.

01:24I did not think about that with my plan.

01:27I said draft Travis Hunter, which you still might, but let's get into that at another time.

01:30But one of the things I've seen as a pushback to Ben Johnson is,

01:35we just saw what a first-year head coach looks like.

01:37Are you scared to draft, uh, to bring in a first-year head coach?

01:40I say no.

01:41Me neither.

01:42First of all, every single coach ever has to be a first-year head coach at some point.

01:46That's how it works.

01:47But I also think Ben Johnson has been a coordinator for multiple years,

01:51something that Gerard Mayo wasn't.

01:53Ben Johnson has a very clear, like, area of expertise,

01:58which Gerard Mayo didn't.

02:00You know, not every head coach does, right?

02:02Like Dan Campbell, which everybody wanted the Patriots to be,

02:04uh, including Jelani Tavai.

02:05Dan Campbell didn't have one thing necessarily that was his thing, his calling card.

02:09He's a leader of men.

02:10Yeah, maybe that's what it is, right?

02:11You want to run through a brick wall for him, that's fine.

02:13But Ben Johnson's out there making Jared Goff look like an MVP candidate.

02:18So, yeah, that's the guy that I want.
