Germany's frost-dusted Black Forest offers picture perfect New Year's Day scenes

New Year's Day weather provided a picture perfect start to 2025 in Germany's Black Forest in what may also be the calm before the storm.

Temperatures also rose above freezing again with hoar frost transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland.

The German weather service (DWD) warned of gale force winds across parts of the country.

Wetter.de reported expected Atlantic lows as responsible for upcoming January 1st and 2nd winter storms.
