Taiwan is upping its climate goals, raising its carbon emissions reduction target for 2030 by several percentage points.

00:00Taiwan is raising its carbon emissions reduction target for 2030.
00:04Environmental Minister Peng Qiming says the country will aim for a reduction
00:09of 26 to 30 percent by the end of the decade.
00:13That's compared to the 23 to 25 percent goal set in 2022.
00:18Peng says Taiwan's carbon reduction efforts are second only to Japan and that the new target
00:24takes into account global demand for AI applications and changes in domestic electricity use.
