Initial investigations by authorities have revealed that the fatal accident at KM 204 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound in Melaka, which resulted in seven fatalities and 33 injuries, was caused by a dislodged tyre from a trailer lorry, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke. 00:11crash on the North-South Expressway in Malacca that killed seven people and injured 33 others.

00:18In a statement on Tuesday, Transport Minister Anthony Look said that the accident on Monday

00:23night occurred at kilometre 204 Northbound when a tour bus carrying 27 passengers swerved

00:29to avoid the loose tyre. The bus lost control skidded into oncoming traffic and collided

00:35with three other vehicles. Among the seven fatalities were five members of a single family

00:40who were travelling in a multi-purpose vehicle. The other victims were the tour bus driver

00:45and one bus passenger. In response to the tragedy, Look has directed the Road Transport

00:51Department to launch an immediate investigation and take action against both the lorry and

00:56bus companies involved. He said the department will strengthen enforcement of safety protocols

01:02for heavy commercial vehicles to prevent similar incidents. Look also extended his deepest

01:07condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the devastating accident.
